The gate has dropped on the 2025 World Supercross Championship, and our team was on site in Buenos Aires this weekend to catch the opener. Haiden Deegan was a crowd favorite on debut, while Ken Roczen lived up to bettors’ expectations to claim round one in the SX1 class. Here is our recap from Argentina.
Saturday, November 8, was a day for the rookie. World Supercross touched down in South America for the first time, and wildcard entry Haiden Deegan saddled up for his maiden 450 class contest. The teenager was the center of attention, with fans hovering around his garage at the far end of the pit lane all day. The hype surrounding Deegan definitely made its way to the Argentine capital, and he didn’t disappoint, ending the visit in third place.
Rockstar Roczen
Two-time World Supercross Champion, Ken Roczen, wasted no time in showing why he was the pre-event favorite. The German-American won everything from qualifying through to the main race, walking away from the Oscar and Juan Galvez Racetrack, with a full complement of points. We briefly caught up with Roczen before qualifying, and he was relaxed, engaging with fans, and happy to be in Argentina. Nothing fazed him throughout the event and he now heads to Canada as the early Championship leader.
Joker Justin
Wildcard entry Justin Cooper endured a bit of a rocky start in the opening sprint race, falling into fifth. However, he quickly found his rhythm after that, finishing behind Roczen in the second sprint and the main race. His efforts elevated him into second overall for round one, and he’ll now compete in his final event of the season in Canada this coming weekend.
