It’s a major weekend in the world of disc golf, and players are making their way to Lynchburg for the PDGA Champions Cup. As expected in recent times, Gannon Buhr and Holyn Handley lead the pre-event odds of the first big one on the calendar, after a dominant start to their campaign. However, defending Champions, Isaac Robinson (MPO) and Missy Gannon (FPO), won’t relinquish the crowns they won last year without putting up a fight. Dive into the best bets and picks ahead of our innaugral major tournament of the campaign.
Four days of world-class disc golf action is coming your way this weekend. Players open their accounts at the New London Tech in Bedford on Thursday, April 9, and remain in town through Sunday, April 12. As expected, the FPO class gets proceedings underway daily from 9:30 am EDT, while the MPO brigade tees off from 2:30 pm. If you can’t make it to Virginia, catch all four days of play live on the Disc Golf Network. Follow the latest scores, news and tee times on the dedicated Champions Cup event page.

Best Bets and Odds for 2026 PDGA Champions Cup
MPO Event Winner Odds
Three events into 2026, and Gannon Buhr has already snatched top honors twice. His worst finish so far was a runner-up return in the season opener. Buhr settled for fourth at this event 12 months ago, ending four shots shy of the eventual winner, Isaac Robinson. The defending champ has battled in the early stages of this term, producing a best return of third at the Big Easy Open.
Calvin Heimburg enters the inaugral major weekend of the seeason as the second favorite. It seems his historical form is still carrying him in the markets, but the year has proven challenging so far for the 2025 European Disc Golf Festival Champion. He is yet to finish inside of the top 10, but punters believe he has the goods to bag another major. Paul McBeth returns from injury to start as the third favorite. He clinched a top three return in the opening tournament this year, but has since been sidelined.

MPO Expert Pick
Gannon Buhr is flying high with a 66.67% win record in the early stages of the campaign. He’s dominated so far this season, and will be tough to tame in the opening major of the year. Buhr sits at +130 for top honors, potentially paying $46.00 for a $20.00 bet.
Top 3 Odds
Richard Wysocki starts the PDGA Champions Cup with serious value for a top-three finish. The South Carolina resident bagged the opening tournament of the term and finished second in the BEO. However, his last outing proved treacherous, as he closed out the Queen City Classic in a tie for 29th. Despite the hiccup, he’s still second on the MPO World Standings.
Reigning Champions Cup holder, Isaac Robinson, has struggled for consistency in the early parts of 2026. He’s posted a tie for 9th, an outright third place, and a tie for 29th last time out. However, he’s building a reputation as a big-match temperament player. Last year, he won this event and finished in the top three in the EDGF. Evan Smith enters the opening major at +1399 for a top-three return. He’s offering bang for buck, considering that he’s fresh off a tie for second. His last performance catapulted him 15 places up the standings to sit in outright fourth, .5 points ahead of Isaac.

Top 5 Odds
Joseph Anderson starts the Champions Cup in third on the standings after consecutive top 10 returns. His best finish this year was an outright fifth place in the Big Easy Open, and he backed it up with a tie for 8th place in the previous tournament. He’s still proving himself as a regular top-five competitor, but he knows how to get the job done and is priced at +1537, offering serious bang for buck. Kyle Klein finds himself in a similar position with one top five and a top 10 to his name this year. However, a tie for 41st in the second event pushed him down into eighth overall.
Luke Taylor showed in the BEO that he can find his way into the top five. However, his form was erratic, with either side of his top-five performance. He’s finished outside of the top 20 in two of the three events this year. Despite his status as the defending champ, Isaac Robinson is priced fairly at +149. He’s earned a single top five this year in three starts, but knows how to go all the way on this course.

Top 10 Odds
Aaron Gossage tees off at +181 for a top 10 finish this week, and his chances are high. He’s closed out two tournaments this year among the top 10, but let himself down slightly in the previous event. He settled for a tie for 21st in Charlotte and will back himself to rebound in Lynchburg. Sullivan Tipton closes out the top 10 places in the DGPT MPO World Standings, despite only one first 10 finish this year. Tipton earned a tie for 5th in the opening tournament and produced a tie for 12th in his previous appearance.
Casey White climbed eight places in the MPO World Standings after the last round, when he finished in a tie for sixth. He’s improved after every event this year, carding a tie for 22nd, outright 11th, and a tie for sixth in the previous tournament. He carries favorable odds into the major weekend, offering +806 for a top 10. Sticking with value for money, Joel Freeman stands out after two top 10 finishes in only two appearances in 2026. He worked his way into a tie for 6th in the QCC, shooting him into 16th on the standings.

FPO Event Winner Odds
The dominant FPO player from 2025, Holyn Handley, continues her form this year. After the first three events, she has yet to fall outside of the top three. Handley has clinched a win and two top-three returns, leaving her 0.33 points off the head of the FPO DGPT World Standings. Handley will be looking for redemption in 2026, after finishing fifth in this tournament last year, 12 shots off the winner. Missy Gannon. The defending champion arrives as the second favorite, but is yet to get going this season. She’s posted a tidy return so far with two top fives and a top ten.
Ohn Scoggins arrives at the first major of the campaign, leading the FPO DGPT World Standings. She’s enjoyed a strong run in the early phase of the season, recording a win, a tie for fourth, and a runner-up return in the past event. Another player making her intentions clear is Jessica Gurthie, who arrives as a long shot at +2693. She bagged her maiden title of the term in North Carolina, and is yet to finish outside of the top 10 in the current term.

Holyn Handley is a consistent performer who has regularly troubled the leaderboard in recent years. She did record her worst finish of the year last time out, which was only a tie for third. She’s already captured a trophy this campaign and enters at +246 for the win. Wagering $20.00 on the favorite stands to potentially payout $69.20.
Top 3 Odds
For a second consecutive tournament, Ohn Scoggins is oozing value for a top-three finish. She enters the first major of 2026 with two top threes in the bag and a worst performance of tied for fourth place. Lisa Fajkus let us down in the previous event when she finished in a tie for 29th. However, she started the year strong with a fourth and a tie for second place in the opening two events. She’s insanely cheap, given her record, starting the week at +3853 to finish inside of the top three.
Valerie Mandujano arrives off the back of consecutive top 10 returns. Her best performance resulted in a tie for second in the Big Easy Open. She only has one top-three to her name this season, but sits in fifth in the standings. Kat Mertsch joins Mandujano as a medium price option for a top three, after finishing inside the threshold in the past event. Mertsch has bettered her result in every competition this year with a 22nd, a tie for sixth, and a tie for third in her previous appearance.

Reigning Champions Cup victor, Missy Gannon, starts her title defence at -234 for a top five. While she is generally on the radar for the win, she hasn’t fired on all cylinders this year, yet. That said, her returns have impressed for someone not in their top form. She is yet to finish outside of the top six, and has two top fives to her name in 2026.
Although we touched on Lisa Fajkus for a top-three performance, she’s as cheap as chips for a top-five performance as well. She’s registered two first-place finishes in three events, and is still at +1609 to repeat the feat in Virginia. Ella Hansen doesn’t offer the value of Fajkus, despite not finishing inside of the top five in any events this year. However, Hansen has enjoyed two top tens and is knocking on the door of a maiden top five for the term.

Paige Pierce is no stranger to challenging the leaders, and the markets are betting on a top 10 performance this weekend. She has only finished inside the top 10 once this year, and will need to shake off the tie for 32nd she produced in the prior event. While we did tip Ella Hansen for a top-five run, she does offer some value at -135 to be among the front 10 players. Hansen has only missed the top 10 once this year, a 14th place in the Big Easy Open.
Down in the value section, we encounter Catrina Allen and Hanna Huynh. The latter enters the inaugural major of 2026 at +357 for a top 10. This makes her a cheap offer, considering that her record in 2026 reads 9th, tied for 10th, and 13th. Allen’s odds are slightly stronger than Huynh’s, as she arrives fresh off consecutive top 10 finishes. Finally, Rebecca Cox enters at +252 for a top 10, after achieving the milestone once this term, but she’ll have to shake off her tied for 34th return in the Queen City Classic.

FPO Expert Pick

She has only finished inside the top 10 once this year, and will need to shake off the tie for 32nd she produced in the prior event.
