Formula 1 concludes its tour of the Mediterranean countries this weekend in Barcelona, with Franco Colapinto celebrating his 22nd birthday. Max Verstappen drives onto the grid at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with eight podiums in the last nine years at this venue. The Netherlander can’t be discounted, but the Papaya colors of McLaren lead the F1 Spain Grand Prix pre-event odds courtesy of the top two drivers in the Championship, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

Event Winner Odds
A seventh consecutive podium of the season handed Oscar Piastri enough points in Monaco to retain the Championship lead. The Australian lines up in Spain with a three-point buffer over his teammate Lando Norris, who is still celebrating his triumph last weekend in Monte Carlo. Norris is a double-winner in 2025, and he took pole position in Barcelona on his previous visit, however, he struggled to hold off Verstappen and ended runner-up, his first podium at this venue.
Red Bull number one Max Verstappen lines up on the grid this weekend, a four-time winner in Catalonia, three of them coming in his last three visits. As impressive as his wins are, “Mad Max” has only missed the podium here once since 2017 when he earned an NC. Lewis Hamilton enjoys a phenomenal record in the “City of Counts,” tied for the winningest driver at this track with Michael Schumacher.

Can Oscar Piastri secure his fifth win of the season in Barcelona?
Podium Odds
The MCL 39 pilots, Piastri and Norris, are a safe bet for a podium finish, collecting seven top-three finishes in eight rounds. Championship leader Piastri has stood on the platform after every Sunday race since Shanghai. Norris is on a run of three straight podiums, and only missed out on a champagne shower in Saudi Arabia, where he crossed the line in fourth. Verstappen has begun the year with four podiums, creating a trend of one every two races. If that trend continues, the Netherlander is in for a top-three finish in Spain.
Charles Leclerc looked solid in Monaco, topping all three practice sessions and qualifying second. He held his position and greeted the checkered flag as the runner-up, for his second podium on the calendar. Mercedes senior driver George Russell started the season as a solid value-for-money podium bet, but he hasn’t podiumed since Miami, finishing seventh and 11th in the last two rounds.

Can Lando Norris retain his untarnished top 6 record after Barcelona?
Odds for the Top 6
Defending Barcelona GP Champion, Verstappen, and McLaren rival Norris are the only remaining drivers in the Championship to end all races inside of the top six. The Red Bull star pushed the boundaries in Bahrain, finishing in sixth place, his worst return this year. “Last Lap Lando” has finished well within the threshold in every race, delivering his worst return in Saudi Arabia, fourth place. The Championship leader, Piastri, has only found himself outside of the top six once this year, but it was due to an unfortunate slide off the track in wet weather in Melbourne.
Both Ferrari drivers have impressed in the last two races with consecutive top-six returns. Sir Lewis Hamilton produced his drive of the season in Emilia-Romagna, coming home in fourth, and he backed it up in the Principality with a fifth-place performance, lowering his finishing average to 5.8 in his last five starts. His teammate Leclerc has enjoyed more time in the top six this season, achieving the feat in five rounds and averaging 4.4 in his previous five starts.

Odds for a Top 10 Finish
The top three drivers in the standings are the only remaining participants in the Championship to have completed every race inside the top 10. Norris carries the best finishing average among the three, Piastri is second on 2.75, and Verstappen is just trailing on 3.00.
A gamble on late pit stops backfired on both Red Bull and Mercedes in Monte Carlo, but it hurt George Russell, who finished his first race above the top 10 threshold this year. The Briton should fancy his chances to compete with the leaders again as the tour heads to a more balanced circuit than in the previous round. Leclerc, Hamilton, and Alexander Albon join Russell with seven top 10s in the bag this year.
Williams’ latest recruit, Carlos Sainz, is starting to find his rhythm in his new vehicle, with a top 10 return in every Grand Prix since Saudi Arabia. Pierre Gasly carries long odds for a top 10 finish, given his poor run of form this year, which includes a best performance of seventh in Bahrain.

Qualifying Winner Odds
The fastest qualifier has proceeded to win five out of the eight Sunday races in 2025. Saudi Arabia, Miami, and Emilia-Romagna are the only Grands Prix this season where the fastest qualifier hasn’t taken the checkered flag. Piastri and Verstappen are joint-leaders with three pole positions apiece, but Oscar has a higher success rate as the qualifying winner, taking the checkered flag in two out of three starts from the front of the grid.
Norris is the recipient of two pole positions in 2025, and he boasts a 100% success rate from pole, winning the Australian and Monaco GP as the fastest qualifier. Despite McLaren’s success this year, the Woking enterprise earned its first fastest qualifying award last year in Barcelona since 2005, when KimiRäikkönen was still in the cockpit.

Odds for the Constructor Winner
McLaren enters the Grand Prix de España as the in-form team, winning six out of eight Sunday races this year. However, they’ve struggled in Barcelona for almost 20 years, failing to register a Victory since KimiRäikkönen was onboard in 2005. This track has belonged to Mercedes and Red Bull since 2014, with no other team winning here.
Hamilton notched up six wins here for the German team between 2014 and 2021, and Verstappen has taken the checkered flag in every appearance since 2022. Despite Mercedes’ dominant historical form, they have failed to impress in the last two races, in stark contrast to Il Cavallino Rampante. The Italian team showed promise in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, courtesy of Hamilton, while Leclerc excelled in Monte Carlo, giving the team their best finish of the year so far.

Spain GP Midfield Winner Odds
Williams’ crowd favorite, Alex Albon, has made the midfield competition his own after seven rounds, consistently entering the top 10. The Thai native only finished outside of the top 10 in Bahrain, and starts fresh off consecutive top-five returns. Albon finds himself in eighth on the Driver Championship standings and lines up at the same circuit where he finished ninth last time out.
“Albono’s” teammate Carlos Sainz is one of his closest challengers in the midfield race, after securing three straight top 10s. Esteban Ocon sits in ninth in the Championship, but he’s been erratic, crossing the line outside of the top 10 in four races, and he failed to finish in Italy. Lance Stroll joins Ocon and Albon as the only mid-field drivers to earn a top 6 finish this term.
Isack Hadjar deserves a mention after earning his third top 10 of the year last weekend, continuing a relatively consistent season. The Racing Bulls rookie crashed out in the season opener, but since then has not finished worse than 13th position. Alpine senior Pierre Gasly enjoys this circuit, proven by his three top 10 performances in four prior starts.
