Schedule and How to Watch the F1 United States Grand Prix
The schedule is stacked for a high-octane weekend in Austin, and it starts with practice on Friday, October 17. Drivers have two chances to accumulate points at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), with the fourth sprint race of the season taking off on Saturday, October 1,8 at 12:00 pm CDT. F1 United States Grand Prix Grand Prix Odds
Event Winner Odds
Three races have passed since a papaya driver took the checkered flag. The top two drivers in the Championship aren’t as dominant as they were leading into Monza. Oscar Piastri has since registered a podium, a DNF, and a fourth-place finish, painting a bleak picture compared to his first 16 starts. He entered the top three in 87.5% of the first 16 stops on the calendar. The Aussie’s record in Austin leaves much to be desired, with one DNF and a fifth-place return in his two visits.
On the other side of the McLaren garage, Lando Norris starts 22 points adrift of Piastri in the Driver’s Championship, with five victories under his belt. COTA hasn’t yielded the highest returns for the Brit over the years, but he did thrive in 2023, crossing the line in second behind Max Verstappen. Speaking of “Mad Max,” he’s finding his rhythm in that RB21, with four consecutive top twos leading into this weekend. Two of those races saw him grab the lion’s share of points. Verstappen last tasted victory here in 2023, his third title in Texas.

Oscar Piastri now leads the Drivers’ Championship by 22 points, after missing out on a podium in his last two starts.
Expert Pick
Four different drivers have entered Victory Lane in the previous five rounds, making it harder to single out an expert pick than at any point this season. Oscar Piastri makes an interesting case after winning the Grand Prix on all three sprint weekends this year, but he’s never stood on the podium in Austin. Max Verstappen wins the battle, coming into this race tied for the most in-form driver in the last five rounds.
Podium Odds
George Russell reminded us in Singapore what he is capable of at his best. He’s fresh off his second triumph of the year and is tied with Verstappen for the best finishing average in the last five rounds at 3.0. While you can’t discount his chances for top honors, this isn’t a Grand Prix at which he has thrived in his career; his best performance here is two fifth-place outcomes in 2022 and 2023. However, he’s proved a regular contender for a top-three finish in 2025, collecting eight in 18 rounds
Monagasque pilot Charles Leclerc returns to defend his Texan title after a rocky season in the red car. He’s only managed five podiums and remains winless, but past performances at this venue may excite him. Leclerc has driven onto the rostrum twice in his last three visits. Podiums seem foreign to his teammate this year, as Lewis Hamilton remains without any after 18 rounds. Despite his recent run, he’s popped onto our radar because Ferrari has put a car inside the top three in the previous three trips to this track.

Lando Norris only has one podium to his name at COTA, can he upgrade to a victory this time out?
Odds for the Top 6
Leading Rookie of the Year, Kimi Antonelli, has found his groove again, with consecutive top-six outings. The Italian has found himself in this position in eight rounds, with the highlight being his third-place return in Montreal. Carlos Sainz showed in Baku that he can still compete with the best, despite trading Maranello for Grove. It was his only top six to date in a Williams, but he returns to a track where he’s joined in the champagne celebrations in his last two appearances.
Consistency isn’t a strong point for Liam Lawson, but the Kiwi knows how to nudge his way into the top six. He’s pulled it off twice in his past eight appearances. His car has enjoyed great speed, and when Lawson gets into a rhythm, he’s a menace for the midfield to overtake. Across the Racing Bulls garage, we encounter Isack Hadjar, who also has two top-six finishes to his name, one of them a brilliant maiden podium at Zandvoort. Last on the list is Alex Albon, who is a five-time top-six finisher this year, but also one who blows hot and cold, enduring cooling issues along the way.

Odds for a Top 10 Finish
Double World Champion, Fernando Alonso, collected his seventh top 10 of the season in Singapore. All seven have arrived in the last 10 rounds, highlighting his massive improvement in his AMR25 towards the business end of the campaign. His colleague Lance Stroll has contributed five to Aston Martin’s cause, with three of them coming in his previous seven starts. The issue for the Canadian is consistency, which is highlighted by a 12.40 finishing average in his past five attempts.
Red Bull number two Yuki Tsunoda has displayed signs of improvement in recent appearances, recording two top tens in the last four rounds. Turning to the rookies, Oliver Bearman continues to quietly go about his business, snatching his second top 10 in four starts over in Southeast Asia. Another youngster who we’re tracking in this category is Gabriel Bortoleto. The Brazilian is a four-time top 10 finisher this season, earning all of them in his last eight Grands Prix.

Fastest Qualifier Odds
Four-time reigning World Champion Max Verstappen exits the pits for qualifying with the most pole positions in 2025. The Red Bull star has stopped the clock the fastest in six qualifying sessions, one more than his rival Oscar Piastri. The McLaren man last lined up on the front row in the Netherlands, which is better than his accomplice, Lando Norris, who previously did it in Belgium. “Last Lap Lando” has lifted the Pirelli Pole Position award four times this season, and he earned the honor here in Austin on his previous trip.
George Russell handed Mercedes their second pole position of the year in Singapore, and subsequently their second Grand Prix win. However, Russell is definitely an outsider to replicate the performance in Texas. If you’re hunting outsiders, then Ferrari is worth a peak, after producing the fastest qualifier in two of the past four editions. Carlos Sainz did for the Italian team in 2022, and Charles Leclerc followed suit in 2023. Leclerc has one pole position in the trunk this term, which he captured in Hungary.

Odds for the Constructors' Winner
Woking outfit, McLaren, has typically headed the Constructors odds sheet this year, but they haven’t produced the victorious car in the past three rounds. Austin also hasn’t proven a happy hunting ground for the papayas in over a decade, last putting up the winning car in 2012, which happened to be Lewis Hamilton’s last triumph for the team. Red Bull has looked like a much-improved outfit in the previous four rounds, prevailing in 50% of them. They also have history on their side, with three titles in Texas since 2021.
Ferrari is the defending champion, but this campaign has gone from bad to worse for il Cavallino Rampante. They haven’t really challenged any of the top constructors for top honors, except in Monaco, when we thought Leclerc might have a shot at toppling Norris. Besides that, they’ve had to settle for the minor podium places and points. Mercedes checks into the “Lone Star State” after winning 50% of the previous 10 races on this circuit. The last one arrived in 2019, courtesy of Valtteri Bottas. However, the German-owned outfit is in high spirits after claiming their second title of the term a fortnight ago.

Odds for the Midfield Winner Race
Alex Albon is the highest-ranked midfield driver coming into round 19, sitting in eighth in the Championship. The Williams pilot has crossed the line ahead of his midfield rivals five times this year, the last one in Italy when he finished seventh. The French rookie, Isack Hadjar, is one spot below Albon on the table, producing the best midfield performance in three races this year.
Looking beyond log points, we see that the most experienced driver on the grid, Fernando Alonso, is the best performer in this category in the last nine races. The Spaniard has crossed the line ahead of the midfield pack in four out of the previous nine Grands Prix. The last time was two weeks ago on the streets of Marina Bay, where he ended in seventh. Another experienced racer, Carlos Sainz, is worth considering with two wins in this division this year, collecting the second in Baku last month.

Odds for Sprint
The fourth sprint weekend on the calendar has arrived, and Verstappen is leading the charge. He lines up for the short race as the defending champion at COTA, and bathed in glory on the third sprint weekend this year, clinching the Saturday spectacle in Belgium. Piastri is hunting his maiden sprint victory of the term, after ending runner-up in the first three races. He reports for duty with the best sprint average in the field at 2.0 and has accumulated the highest points tally in the sprints.
Piastri’s title rival Norris has also fared positively in the short format, with two podiums, including one trip inside Victory Lane. He starts with a 4.0 finishing average, the second-best figures on the grid. Sticking with British drivers, Lewis Hamilton started the 2025 sprint season with a bang, taking top honors in Shanghai and third in Miami. That form tumbled down when the season hit Europe, as the Ferrari driver greeted the stewards in 15th in Belgium.
