Best Bets and Odds for NHRA Reading Nationals
Top Fuel
Event Winner Odds
The Top Fuel class is arguably the most competitive division in the NHRA this season, with six drivers prevailing in the 14 events on the calendar. Shawn Langdon and Justin Ashley are tied winningest racers with three apiece, followed by Doug Kalitta and Tony Stewart on two. Ashley lines up in Mohnton fresh off his third triumph of the campaign, and has now raced in seven of the last 11 finals. His three trips inside Victory Lane have come in his last six appearances.
Langdon starts as the favorite after progressing into the semifinal or better in 71.43% of his previous seven outings. He’s only collected one trophy for his efforts in that period and has failed to move beyond E2 in the past two rounds. Series leader, Tony Stewart, is the most consistent driver in the field this season, entering E3 or beyond in 75% of his prior performances. He finished second in the U.S. Nationals in his sixth final of the term.

Justin Ashley pips his rivals for the expert pick tag, given his current form and past results at this raceway. He has progressed to two finals in this event since 2022 and lost out in the semifinals on his last visit. However, he’s in winning form coming into Mohnton, and starts with fair odds of +622. A $20 wager has the potential to payout $144.40, should he continue his victorious ways.

Event Winner Odds
Contrary to the Top Fuel category, Austin Prock has turned the Funny Car class into a one-sided affair. He’s taken three consecutive checkered flags coming into the Reading Nationals and has won five of the last six events. If you look at his performance across the season, it looks even better. He’s featured in nine out of the last 13 finals, and has only failed to enter E4 in five meetings all year.
The only other driver to win more than once this term is Jack Beckman. He’s progressed to four finals, prevailing 50% of the time. Beckman delivered a strong showing at the U.S. Nationals, but fell short to Prock down the final straight. Chad Green is an interesting option. Consistency has proven to be an issue for him after starting strong with a victory in the season opener. But he is a former finalist at this venue and progressed to the semifinals at the Lucas Oil Nationals in August.

Throughout the season, we’ve raved about the Anderson-Glenn dynasty, as the duo often found themselves facing off in the final. That record has started to falter in recent rounds, with neither driver appearing in E4 in two out of the last three rounds. Casting aside the negatives, they’ve registered nine triumphs between them, accounting for 75% of the event wins in 2025. Greg Anderson has contributed five to the cause, while Dallas Glenn has added four.
We’re more interested in Mrs. Erica Enders for the trip to “The Keystone State,” after bagging her maiden win of the season last time out. Besides her current form, she knows how to get the job done at Maple Grove Raceway, entering three finals in her previous four visits. She lost out in E4 last year and in 2021, but tasted glory in 2023. Aaron Stanfield returns to defend his title and is starting to find some form, with a final and a semifinal appearance in the prior three events.

It’s unsurprising to see Gaige Herrera at the head of the odds table, after racking up five victories in nine appearances this season. The double NHRA PSM World Champion lines up after bagging the U.S. Nationals title, and carries a proud record of seven finals appearances. The markets suggest his closest challenge will come from Matt Smith, the 2023 PSM Reading Nationals Champion, and a one-time winner this series.
Richard Gadson enters the weekend with favorable odds and has consistently challenged the Herrera campaign. He’s featured in five finals in 2025, entering four in the last six outings. Gadson found himself in E4 at this event last year, but fell to Hector Arana Jr.
