Silverstone qualifying pace
Marco Bezzecchi set the tone at Silverstone by topping Friday practice with a 1:56.280 lap that established a new circuit record and beat Fabio Quartararo’s previous benchmark by nearly a second. Jorge Martín answered in qualifying, grabbing pole position with a 1:56.160 lap that set a new qualifying record. Raúl Fernández was close behind in second, only 0.021 seconds back, and Ai Ogura took third to give Aprilia the first three spots on the grid. Martín’s weekend hit an early snag in the Sprint, when he and Ogura both lost places at the start after their rear ride-height devices appeared to stay engaged. Martín still came away with the win in the Sprint race at Silverstone, and that kept him in the center of the action after the opening-lap trouble. The result added another strong moment to an Aprilia weekend that had already started with a pole and an all-Aprilia front row. Aprilia also swept the podium in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix, a clean run that matched the speed it showed in practice and qualifying. The Sprint reinforced how much pace the bike carried across the full weekend, from one-lap runs to race trim. It also kept the pressure on the rest of the field, because Aprilia’s riders kept showing up at the front no matter the session. Martín’s win gave the team another marker before the grand prix and helped set up the final race with Aprilia still carrying the momentum.
Silverstone Grand Prix sweep
Fernández delivered the biggest result of the weekend in the British Grand Prix, passing Martín at Turn 1 and then leading all 20 laps. Martín finished second and Bezzecchi took third, giving Aprilia a 1-2-3 at Silverstone. The podium lockout capped a full sweep for the brand after it also swept the podium in the Sprint, and Silverstone became Aprilia’s third season sweep after Le Mans and Assen. Fernández’s win also made him a two-time MotoGP race winner after Trackhouse re-signed him on a two-year deal. He turned his front-row speed into a complete race win and never gave the lead back after the opening move. Martín stayed close enough to bank second, while Bezzecchi completed the podium and kept Aprilia’s dominance intact all the way through the flag. The championship picture tightened as well. Martín left Silverstone leading Bezzecchi by 31 points, 240 to 209.
