Briscoe tops practice

Briscoe set the pace in Friday’s 50-minute NASCAR Cup Series practice at the track, turning a fastest lap of 165.239 mph in the final tune-up session of the 2026 Cup Series season. Austin Cindric was second and Denny Hamlin was third. Christopher Bell finished fourth and Ryan Blaney was fifth. Hamlin was the fastest among the title-eligible drivers at 164.684 mph. The practice session was the final tune-up session of the 2026 Cup Series season.

Blaney backs pace

Blaney posted the best 10-, 15-, 20- and 25-lap averages in practice. Bell entered practice 67 points behind Kyle Larson and 70 points behind Hamlin, so the session had significance for his title hopes.

Larson fights grip

Larson had a rougher afternoon. He was 10th fastest at 163.895 mph and made 33 laps, but he brushed the outside wall several times during practice and never looked fully comfortable in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. Larson said the car did not feel very good and said he did not have enough grip to run the wall the way he wanted. Larson could clinch the championship by scoring nine points in Sunday’s race. The session also ended with Tyler Reddick making contact with Zane Smith’s car entering pit road.
