Leary controls the feature
C.J. Leary won the 72nd Ted Horn 100 at Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Illinois and led all 100 laps after starting from the second starting position. He turned a strong spot on the grid into a dominant run and never let anyone else control the race. Chase Stockon won qualifying and started on the pole, but he finished second in the feature after spending the day in Leary’s shadow. Stockon and Danner surge
Stockon backed up his pole start with a runner-up finish, while Briggs Danner made the biggest move in the feature. Justin Grant finished fourth and Jake Swanson took fifth, rounding out the top five behind the lead pair. Jimmy Light also had a rough night after flipping on lap 15. The next Silver Crown race is the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway. Leary now carries the points lead into that event, while Grant remains in striking distance if he can close the gap. The standings reflect the weight of one clean result at the front, and Leary’s flag-to-flag win pushed him into the controlling position in the championship chase.
