Chase Dietz wins
Chase Dietz won Friday’s 25-lap Hampel Oil Night Before the 50 feature at Port Royal Speedway after starting fourth and climbing to the front in a race that changed hands early. He fought through a back-and-forth stretch with Ryan Smith before taking the lead for good on Lap 10. Dietz kept the top spot until a right-rear tire failure with three laps remaining interrupted the run, but the result still went in his favor. The victory was his first Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing win and his 20th win of 2026, the most of any 410 sprint car driver.
Smith finished second in the feature. Giovanni Scelzi took third and Daison Pursley was fourth. Rico Abreu rounded out the top four after leading the first five laps.
Ryan Timms wins
Ryan Timms delivered the opening-night Tuscarora 50 feature at Port Royal Speedway, and he did it with a late charge from sixth to second in 20 laps before taking the lead on the final restart. The win paid $10,000 and gave Timms his second career High Limit Racing victory. It was also his first win of 2026. He made the most of the restart, which turned a strong run into a trip to victory lane on a night when the front of the field stayed active from start to finish.
Justin Peck finished second in the feature. Aaron Reutzel was third and Rico Abreu took fourth. Timms’ drive through the field gave the opening-night event a clear turning point, and his move on the final restart settled the race after several drivers spent time at the front.
Saturday finale looms
The weekend’s final preliminary event was slowed by a late red flag when Brian Brown flipped into Logan Wagner with two laps remaining. Both drivers climbed out after the crash. The incident slowed the final tune-up before the Saturday finale, which was scheduled to pay $59,000 to win.
That set the stage for a big-money finish after Friday and Saturday already produced major results at Port Royal. Dietz handled the Friday program with a win in the Hampel Oil Night Before the 50, then Timms answered in the opening-night Tuscarora 50 feature with his first win of the season. The final preliminary crash added one more hard moment to the weekend before the field moved toward the richest race on the card.
