Courtney, Thorson split wins at Lucas Oil Speedway

Courtney won opener
Tyler Courtney charged from 12th to win the 30-lap Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial opener at Lucas Oil Speedway, taking the lead from Justin Peck on Lap 26 and holding on for a 0.781-second victory worth $10,000. The win gave Courtney his ninth career High Limit Racing victory. The opener had four different leaders and three cautions in the first half, keeping the outcome unsettled until the closing laps.
Peck settled for second on his 28th birthday. Giovanni Scelzi followed in third, while Ashton Torgerson and Tanner Thorson completed the top five in fourth and fifth. Courtney’s drive stood out because he worked through traffic from the middle of the field and made the decisive move on Lap 26.
Thorson controlled Night 2
Tanner Thorson answered on the second night by leading all 30 laps in the JST Motorsports No. 88 and winning the Night 2 feature at Lucas Oil Speedway. The victory was his first Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing win at the track, his sixth career High Limit triumph and his fourth victory of the season. It was also his second win since JST Motorsports took over the car. Peck started on the pole and finished second.
Scott Bogucki delivered the best High Limit result of his career in third after starting ninth, and Tanner Holmes and Joel Myers Jr. rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth.
Qualifying set finale
Aaron Reutzel set the pace before the feature racing began, turning a lap of 12.600 to establish a new track record in qualifying. Thorson, Peck, Bogucki and Brent Marks earned spots locked into the $25,000-to-win finale.
The weekend results showed how quickly the picture changed from one night to the next. Courtney won the opener after starting 12th. Thorson won the next feature after leading all 30 laps. Peck finished second in both races, first on his birthday and then after starting on the pole. Bogucki finished third after starting ninth. Reutzel set the qualifying record, while four drivers locked into the finale.
