Phoenix Raceway gets Phoenix-only Goodyear left-side tire for Freeway Insurance 500

NXTbets Pro | Published On: October 13, 2026

Cup Series tire plan

Goodyear is leaning on a familiar setup for the Cup Series at Phoenix Raceway, and the left side will bring a track-specific tire to Sunday’s Freeway Insurance 500. The series will use left-side tire code D-5254, a code used only at Phoenix, along with right-side tire code D-5256. That right-side tire has been on five other tracks this season and was most recently used at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in August. The Cup Series will run the same tire package it used at Phoenix last March. Goodyear also listed 11 sets for Cup. Wet-weather tires will be available if needed, giving officials and teams a backup plan if conditions change. The selection of a Phoenix-only left-side tire shows Goodyear is tailoring the package to the track without straying far from what the series already ran there earlier this year.

O’Reilly Auto Parts package

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series also gets a familiar tire package at Phoenix Raceway, and its setup matches what the series used at the track last March. Goodyear will bring left-side tire code D-6142 and right-side tire code D-6116 for the race, the same combination shared with the Craftsman Truck Series. That keeps the second national series on a proven pairing that teams have already worked with at Phoenix, which should help trim the unknowns heading into the weekend. Goodyear listed five sets for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Wet-weather tires will also be available for the series, so teams will have the same contingency option as the rest of the national tour if the forecast or track conditions force a change. Teams can build off their past notes instead of starting over. The result is a straightforward tire plan that keeps the series on established footing while still leaving room for Goodyear to monitor wear and performance across the race weekend.

Craftsman Truck tire plan

The Craftsman Truck Series will return to Phoenix Raceway with the tire combination it used in its season finale there last fall. Goodyear will supply left-side tire code D-6142 and right-side tire code D-6116, the same pair the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will use. That shared package gives the two series a common tire foundation at the track, even though each race program carries its own schedule and demands. The Truck Series also received five sets from Goodyear, matching the allotment listed for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Wet-weather tires will be available for the trucks as well, keeping the weekend’s contingency plan intact across all three national series. Goodyear’s decision to stick with a tried-and-true combination for the Truck Series lines up with the broader approach at Phoenix, where the company is using proven tire combinations across the board. The move gives teams a clear baseline and puts the emphasis on handling the track itself rather than adapting to an unfamiliar tire construction. The Truck Series heads into Phoenix with backup options available if conditions demand them.
