How Danner took control
Briggs Danner won Saturday’s Hemelgarn Racing / Super Fitness Rollie Beale Classic 100-lap USAC Silver Crown season finale at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio, and he did it from a third-place starting spot. Danner moved forward in stages, first passing Mario Clouser for second on lap 32, then taking control on lap 46 after Chase Cabre’s left front tire locked up entering turn three. From there, Danner had to hold off a late push from Tyler Roahrig before reaching the checkered flag 0.478 seconds ahead of the field. Cabre ended up third, Justin Grant was fourth and Dakoda Armstrong finished fifth.
Silver Crown standings
The victory carried more than one payoff for Danner. He also earned a bonus for leading the most laps, and that lifted him into second in the season-ending standings. Danner finished tied with Grant at 557 points, then won the tiebreaker because he had more feature wins. That combination of the race win and the bonus points changed the final order in the championship chase and gave Danner the higher spot when the season closed. Grant’s fourth-place finish at Toledo left him level with Danner on points, but the tiebreaker settled the battle. The result capped the Silver Crown campaign with Danner on top at Toledo and second in the final standings.
