Final practice results
Ryan Blaney set the pace in final practice for the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway, posting a 33.170-second lap at 135.665 mph in the No. 12 Ford. Joey Logano was second, Josh Berry third, Connor Zilisch fourth and Tyler Reddick fifth. The top five were separated by less than a tenth of a second, which left the final tuneup crowded at the front and gave teams little room between the quickest cars.
Hamlin at Gateway
Denny Hamlin came into the weekend as the defending winner at World Wide Technology Raceway, and he has backed that up with consistent results at the track. He finished second in the event in each of the previous two seasons. Hamlin said those runs came from execution, restarts and fortunate breaks rather than from having the best car every week. He also led the standings by 12 points over Christopher Bell. After 50 minutes of practice, Hamlin was 30th-fastest with a lap speed of 133.670 mph.
Berry leads long runs
Josh Berry added another strong showing by leading the best 10-lap average category at 133.704 mph. Shane van Gisbergen was second in that category at 133.268 mph.
