Dietz Wins Bash
Chase Dietz of York, Pennsylvania won the Bricker’s Bash at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pennsylvania on Wednesday night, and he did it by taking control from the start. Dietz rolled off from the outside of the front row, fired into the lead at the green and then stayed ahead when the race tightened up late. Buddy Kofoid and David Gravel both made runs at him before the checkered flag, but Dietz kept them behind him and closed out the win. The result gave Dietz his second career World of Outlaws victory and pushed his total to 18 career 410 Sprint Car wins. BAPS has been a productive place for him, too. Five of those 18 victories have come at the York Haven track, which gives the win extra weight for a driver who delivered on a night that brought the Outlaws into Posse territory.
Posse Levels Series
The win also gave the Pennsylvania Posse a home-track victory over the World of Outlaws. That mattered in a season rivalry that stayed dead even after the race, with the Posse and the Outlaws tied 2-2. Dietz gave the local side a result it can point to on its own ground, and he did it against the touring group that has set the standard in sprint car racing for years. The setting fit the storyline. BAPS Motor Speedway sat in the middle of Posse country, and Dietz used that familiar backdrop to turn a front-row start into a headline result. He did not need a long charge from deep in the field. He only needed to make the most of his starting spot and answer every late push. That is what he did. The final margin came from composure under pressure, with Dietz staying in front when the challengers arrived and giving the Pennsylvania group a split of the season series.
Kofoid Finishes Second
Kofoid ended the night in second after pressing Dietz late, and Gravel followed in third after joining the battle at the front. Carson Macedo took fourth and Sheldon Haudenschild came home fifth, giving the World of Outlaws several strong finishes behind the winner even though the top spot stayed with the home side. The order at the finish showed how quickly the race settled into a fight at the front once Dietz grabbed the lead at the start. He controlled the first move, then survived the response from the drivers behind him. Kofoid and Gravel both had enough pace to threaten, but neither could find a way around before the race ended. Macedo and Haudenschild completed the top five and backed up the strength of the Outlaws lineup. Dietz, though, held the line. He turned a strong starting position into a clean win, added another World of Outlaws score to his record and left BAPS with another mark in a place that has already given him more than its share of success.
