Fermin Aldeguer undergoes successful right-hand surgery after Indonesian GP crash

NXTbets Pro | Published On: October 14, 2026

Aldeguer surgery update

Fermin Aldeguer said his right-hand surgery was successful after the crash that left him with a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone. He posted the update on social media after the procedure in Barcelona, Spain, where Dr. Xavier Mir’s medical team treated him. Aldeguer also said he was OK after the surgery, showing that the immediate operation had gone as planned.

The injury came after a Turn 16 crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix in Mandalika. Aldeguer traveled from Mandalika to Barcelona for treatment. A short statement that followed the surgery said, “Another setback this season… the rider is doing well.”

Aldeguer recovery outlook

The surgery update did not provide a recovery timetable. No official timeline had been released, and Aldeguer’s status for the following weekend’s Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island remained unconfirmed. His return date therefore remained open as he recovered in Barcelona.

Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi said he did not think Aldeguer would be fit to race, reinforcing the uncertainty around the Australian Grand Prix.

Attention then turned to recovery after the operation, with his participation in the next race still in doubt.

Aldeguer injury history

The hand problem was Aldeguer’s third injury of the year, adding to a season already interrupted by physical setbacks. Earlier setbacks included a fractured femur, a fractured vertebra and a recent operation to remove metalwork from his left leg.

Together, those setbacks illustrated the physical challenges Aldeguer had faced during the season.

The latest surgery followed the Turn 16 crash and focused on his right hand, while the earlier operation had involved his left leg.
