Giovanni Scelzi wins World Finals feature, gives Spire first World of Outlaws victory

Scelzi wins feature

Giovanni Scelzi gave Spire Motorsports its first World of Outlaws series victory and did it in control from start to finish, winning the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series feature at The Dirt Track at Charlotte during the World Finals. Scelzi went to the front on the opening lap after passing Sheldon Haudenschild and never let anyone back by him. He led every lap of the 25-lap race and turned a strong start into a statement finish for both himself and the team. The win was Scelzi’s 11th career World of Outlaws victory, a milestone that fits with the form he showed when the race went green. It also gave him his first win at Charlotte in seven years, adding another layer to a night that already carried major weight for Spire. A single move on the opening lap set the tone, and Scelzi handled the rest with clean, composed pace. He simply built the lead, kept it and closed out the feature as the field chased him. For Spire Motorsports, the result marked a breakthrough in series competition. For Scelzi, it was another career win and one more reminder that the front of the field belongs to him when he gets there first.

Holmes finishes second

Tanner Holmes chased Scelzi to the flag and delivered the best World of Outlaws finish of his career with a runner-up result. Holmes finished second and Haudenschild third after Scelzi took command on the opening lap. The finish gave Holmes a career benchmark in the series. Haudenschild, who won the dash, ended up third after losing the lead on lap one and then settling into the podium spots. Cameron Smith took fourth and Buddy Schweibinz finished fifth, giving the feature a clear top five. The race also included a caution on lap 10 for Logan Rumsey, a moment that interrupted the flow of the feature. Scelzi stayed out front throughout the race. Holmes capitalized on the opportunity to bank a career-best result.

Spire breakthrough

Scelzi’s victory carried a broader meaning because it marked Spire Motorsports’ first World of Outlaws series win and arrived in a season that has produced a wide range of different winners. Scelzi became the 24th different winner in the 2026 World of Outlaws season, leaving the year one win short of tying the record for most winners in a single season. Scelzi’s name now sits inside that list after he turned the result into a personal and organizational breakthrough. The dash results also mattered to the flow of the night, with Haudenschild and Scelzi taking those wins before the feature. Scelzi passed Haudenschild on the opening lap and never gave the lead back. That sequence gave the night a sharp arc. Haudenschild opened strong, Scelzi answered at once and never gave the lead back, and the rest followed behind them.
