Matt Biolos Takes Lead After Griffin Colapinto’s Portugal Win

NXTbets Pro | Published On: October 27, 2026

Biolos leads

Griffin Colapinto’s win at the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal pushed Biolos into first place in Stab’s Surfboard Empire CT 2026 Shaper Rankings. The move put his operation at the top of the season-long shaper standings. Biolos now sits on 165,030 points after Portugal. The margin at the top is 44,960 points over DHD, which now sits in second and remains the only shaper with a mathematical chance to win the rankings. That gap matters because the leaderboard did not shift on one isolated result alone. It changed because outcomes in Portugal moved points around for several shapers at once, and Biolos was the one who came away in front. The standings now reflect a clear front-runner, but they also leave enough room to keep the title race alive through the last stops.

DHD gains ground

DHD did get closer in Portugal, and the reason traces back to results on both the men’s and women’s sides of the event. Molly Picklum won her second straight women’s title at the stop, and that victory added to DHD’s total. Bettylou Sakura Johnson’s semifinal finish also helped Biolos’ rival pick up points. Those results mattered because the rankings are built on how surfers from each shaper perform at Championship Tour events, and the Portugal stop delivered points in more than one direction. Caity Simmers and Gabriel Medina were the other event finalists, and they were the only Championship Tour surfers on their shapers’ rosters in Portugal. That detail gives a clearer picture of how the event shaped the standings. Those performances were enough to trim the race. Still, the climb came with limits. Even after gaining ground, DHD remained well behind Biolos, and the points gap still left it chasing rather than controlling the standings. Portugal changed the shape of the race, but it did not close the door on the leader.

Final events loom

The path forward now runs through Cloud 9 and Pipeline, and the math remains brutal for DHD. It is the only shaper with a mathematical chance to win the rankings, but it would need an extremely unlikely sequence of results in the remaining events to catch Biolos. That leaves the standings with a clear top line and a narrow chase underneath it. DHD still has a live shot, which keeps the title race from being settled before the final events are run, but the gap is large enough that the burden shifts heavily toward the challenger. The standings also show how much each event can matter in a shaper race. One win, one semifinal run and one strong roster presence can move the totals, and Portugal did exactly that. Yet the distance between first and second remains substantial. DHD has a chance, but the route is narrow, the remaining events are limited and Biolos remains ahead.
