Romain Grosjean apologized to McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown after saying he had misunderstood Brown’s comments about Oscar Piastri. Grosjean made the remarks on Canal+ during Spanish Grand Prix coverage, where he had described Brown’s words as saying Lando Norris was a world champion and better than Piastri. In a Sunday evening social-media post, Grosjean said he “completely misunderstood” Brown’s words and wanted to correct the record. He also acknowledged McLaren’s emphasis on treating both drivers fairly and equally.
Brown remarks
Brown had praised Norris’s pole lap on F1 TV and said Norris was on “A-plus” form. He also said Piastri had been close to Norris all weekend, after Piastri qualified seventh and was four tenths of a second slower than Norris. Grosjean said McLaren had the fastest car that day and had been unlucky with the virtual safety car. He added that Norris and Piastri would get another chance to fight for the win in Baku.
