Bearman, Haas finalizing contract extension for 2027

Bearman extension talks

Haas is finalizing a contract extension for Ollie Bearman, and the driver says he wants his future settled with the team. Ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Bearman said it is “very clear” he wants to stay with Haas in 2027, with an extension his target. He said the conversations are still moving in the background, but he does not know when an official announcement will arrive. For now, he says his Formula 1 future is “not really in my hands” as he waits for confirmation. Bearman is contracted to Ferrari, which ultimately controls his future, adding another layer to the negotiation.

Komatsu backs Bearman

Ayao Komatsu has pushed the same message from the team side, and he has done so in blunt terms. The Haas team principal dismissed speculation that salary demands were holding up the renewal, calling that “absolute nonsense.” Komatsu said there is “zero truth” to the idea that a €6 million figure has slowed the deal. He framed the delay as a contractual issue and said he does not see any problems in the talks. He also expressed confidence that the extension will be completed, saying he is certain Bearman will remain with Haas in 2027 and that the deal will get done for sure.

Haas lineup changes

The extension talk comes as Haas prepares for changes elsewhere in its lineup. The team has confirmed that Ferrari junior Rafael Camara will join the team and that Esteban Ocon is set to leave at the end of the current campaign. That gives the Bearman situation added weight, because Haas is already reshaping part of its future. Camara’s arrival brings another Ferrari-linked driver into the mix, while Ocon’s departure opens a seat. Ocon said he is still talking with teams and feels he has unfinished business in Formula 1. A possible Cadillac seat alongside Sergio Perez was mentioned as an option for him, showing that his market remains active. The broader picture is one of movement at Haas and uncertainty for Ocon, while Bearman’s extension remains under discussion.
