Lawson gets another Red Bull chance at Monza as Hadjar sits out

NXTbets Pro | Published On: September 3, 2026

Red Bull lineup

Red Bull will keep Liam Lawson alongside Max Verstappen for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, with Isack Hadjar ruled out as he recovers from a wrist injury suffered during Formula 1’s summer break. The team said it is using the same temporary lineup at Monza that it used at the Dutch Grand Prix, where Lawson got another chance in the Red Bull car. The move gives Lawson his second consecutive race start for Red Bull. Red Bull confirmed the decision, setting the stage for Lawson to continue in the seat at Monza.

Lawson momentum

Lawson left Zandvoort after qualifying eighth, finishing seventh and scoring his first six points for Red Bull. Lawson said another weekend in the RB22 will help him add to what he learned in the Netherlands. Red Bull recalled Lawson after a difficult 2025 stint that ended with a demotion to Racing Bulls after two races. Monza offers a fresh test in the same machinery.

Hadjar recovery

Red Bull said Hadjar is making encouraging progress in his recovery, but the team will not take unnecessary risks with his return. The Racing Bulls lineup also stays steady for Monza, with Yuki Tsunoda set to drive alongside Arvid Lindblad. The team wants Hadjar back only when he is ready to race without added risk.
