Aston Martin changed components on both cars before qualifying in Singapore, and the move sent Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll to the pit lane to start the race. Alonso also took a new power unit before the Singapore Grand Prix.

Alonso finished 16th in Singapore after a race he said was hurt by energy deployment problems, especially after virtual safety cars. He said his car lacked power. Shintaro Orihara said the team had not found any problem in its data and would conduct a deeper investigation at its Sakura base before the United States Grand Prix. Orihara added, “the driver is the best sensor.”
