As first reserve for 2028–2031, MotorLand Aragón will step in if a scheduled round cannot go ahead, formalising its role within MotoGP’s approach to rotating Spanish rounds. The limited one-year hosting commitment, together with teams’ reluctance to expand the calendar beyond the current 22 rounds, casts doubt on the planned return of the Argentine round at the upgraded Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires for 2027. Separately, Adelaide has been confirmed to replace Phillip Island as the Australian Grand Prix venue from 2027.
Organizers say the 2027 Grand Prix will cost about €12 million to stage. MotorLand Aragón, which first hosted MotoGP in 2010, typically draws more than 110,000 spectators and generates roughly €50 million a year for the region, with nearly half that annual impact tied to MotoGP activity.
MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta described the renewal as reflecting an almost two-decade partnership and stressed the event’s importance to the Aragón region, while regional president Jorge Azcón confirmed the circuit will remain linked to the championship through 2031 as a reserve venue.
Honda signs David Alonso for 2027 MotoGP plans
Honda Racing Corporation confirmed it has signed 20-year-old David Alonso to a multi-year MotoGP contract for 2027 and beyond, adding one of the series’ brightest young prospects to its plans for the 850cc era. Honda did not say whether the Colombian rider will join its factory team or LCR Honda, and it did not disclose the contract length. Autosport reported the agreement is longer than the usual two-year term.
Alonso, who was born in Madrid and races under the Colombian flag, won the 2024 Moto3 world championship after finishing third as a rookie in 2023 and then dominating the class the following season. He moved up to Moto2 with Aspar last season and has one win in 2026, while sitting fourth in the championship, 79.5 points behind leader Manuel Gonzalez. He has also been dealing with a shoulder injury that affected several rounds. Across Moto3 and Moto2, Alonso has 20 wins, 30 podiums and nine pole positions.
Honda said Alonso will make his first on-track appearance on its 2027 bike at the post-race Valencia Test. His signing comes as Honda continues to sort out its 2027 rider lineup, with the factory squad still the only team on next year’s MotoGP grid without a confirmed lineup.
Guevara poised to join Pramac as Yamaha maps 2027 lineup
Multiple reports say Pramac and Yamaha are preparing to promote Moto2 rider Izan Guevara to MotoGP for 2027. The move is described as provisional but close to being signed and is expected to be finalized before the summer break. Federico Zamagni reported Guevara’s Blu Cru contract contains a clause that could allow or compel a move to Pramac if he delivers “the right result” at the Catalan Grand Prix, a threshold Zamagni describes as securing the points needed to take the Moto2 championship lead. If activated, that scenario would likely displace Jack Miller at Pramac and leave Miller’s immediate future uncertain.
Reports give Guevara’s age as either 21, turning 22 next month, or 22. He extended his Yamaha contract through the end of 2027 and has built momentum on track: he won the 2025 Valencia Moto2 Grand Prix, and this season he has taken three podiums in the opening five rounds including a victory at Le Mans, leaving him second in the Moto2 riders’ standings. An impressive private test on a Yamaha M1, earlier Yamaha YZR-M1 testing and his involvement in Yamaha’s Moto2 project, backed by Pramac manager Gino Borsoi, are cited as factors behind the planned promotion.
Coverage of Yamaha’s intended 2027 reshuffle, reportedly overseen by managing director Paolo Pavesio, says Guevara would join Pramac alongside Toprak Razgatlioglu, with Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura in factory Yamaha seats.
