The HTA Sunset Pro went on hold with only Finals Day left in the men’s and women’s QS 2,000 event. Officials called off competition for two straight days after the swell faded around Sunset Beach on O‘ahu, where storms had moved through the island. WSL Tour Manager Brian Robbins said the event opened with strong conditions, but the surf did not hold. Organizers kept watching the next swell and any weather that could affect a restart.
Finals Day decision
Officials said they would consider a possible return, with the remaining competition waiting on the surf and the weather. The event had already lost two days, so the morning check would decide whether the men’s and women’s field could get back in the water or stay on hold.
