Burton will join RSS Racing

Jeb Burton is moving to RSS Racing for the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season, and he will do it in the team’s No. 22 Chevrolet on a full-time basis. The move will give RSS Racing a driver with national series experience. Burton spent the previous four seasons with Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport. He gave that organization its first victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 2023. RSS Racing brings its own track record to the partnership. Rod and Pamela Sieg own the organization, and the team has two series victories as an organization. Burton said he was grateful and excited for the opportunity, and the move will give him a new home with a car number that already means a great deal to him. It will also pair him with a Chevrolet in a full-time ride.

No. 22 carries weight

The No. 22 is more than a number for Burton. It carries family significance because his father, Ward Burton, won all five of his Cup Series races in that number. Those victories included two of the biggest races on the schedule, the 2001 Southern 500 and the 2002 Daytona 500. That history gives the number a direct line to Burton’s family and to the success his father built at the highest level of stock car racing. The meaning runs beyond the results, too. The No. 22 also matches the font his father used in the Cup Series, which adds another layer of connection between father and son. For Burton, that makes the number feel personal before he even turns a lap in it. A car number can become part of a driver’s identity, and this one already has a place in the Burton family story. The number will get a new chapter, with Jeb set to carry it full-time in 2027 and try to add his own marks to a number that already has a place in NASCAR history.

Burton brings experience

Burton arrives at RSS Racing with a long resume across NASCAR’s national series. He has 236 NASCAR O’Reilly Series starts, two wins and 51 top-10 finishes in that category. Those numbers show both volume and production, the kind of combination teams look for when they want a driver who can help steady a program and contend for strong results. Burton also has 34 career Cup Series starts and one Truck Series win, so his background stretches across multiple levels of the sport. His record at Talladega adds another layer. He has two Xfinity Series wins at the Alabama superspeedway, earned in 2021 and 2023, and the 2023 victory also marked the first win for Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport. That mix of starts, wins and top finishes gives RSS Racing a driver with a broad base of experience and a clear ability to deliver at a demanding track. The move also keeps Burton in a series where he has already built a substantial footprint, and it gives him another chance to turn that experience into results for a new team.
