Race decided on late restart
Kaden Honeycutt won the Craftsman Truck Series race at Phoenix Raceway by 1.556 seconds over Christian Eckes. Honeycutt took the lead on the Lap 99 restart and pulled away from the field to score his fourth career Truck Series victory. All four of those wins have come this season. The Phoenix win was his first at the track. Eckes chased him to the line and finished second for the third straight race, but Honeycutt controlled the finish after the restart and kept the lead through the checkered flag. The race lasted one hour, 24 minutes and 27 seconds, averaged 107 mph and produced a fastest lap of 27.7 seconds.
Riggs leads early
Layne Riggs won the pole and led the first 43 laps, but he finished third. Ty Majeski swept both stages, led 49 laps and finished fourth. Majeski said the No. 88 Ford lost strength as the sun went down and called the result a “missed opportunity.”
Honeycutt extends lead
The win stretched Honeycutt’s championship lead over Riggs to 39 points, a cushion that matters with three races left in the season. Eckes moved to third in the standings after his third straight runner-up finish, and he now trails Honeycutt by 112 points. Jake Garcia finished fifth. The series now heads to Talladega Superspeedway next weekend, with three races left in the season. Honeycutt leaves Phoenix with the race win and the points lead.
