Kofoid Took Preliminary
Michael “Buddy” Kofoid won the L.G. Everist Huset’s Shootout preliminary at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota. Kofoid moved past Steven Snyder Jr. on lap 7 and earned $15,000 for the win. The victory gave Kofoid his 12th World of Outlaws win of the season and his ninth at Huset’s. Kofoid also entered the finale second in points behind Sheldon Haudenschild, keeping him squarely in the mix heading into the main event. The pass on lap 7 and the payout highlighted a strong night for Kofoid. The preliminary win added another marker to a season that has already produced multiple victories.
Axsom Claimed Finale
Emerson Axsom turned the finale into a breakthrough. Axsom won the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series finale at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, from the front row after lining up alongside Carson Macedo. He battled Macedo and David Gravel for the lead late, then survived multiple late restarts to secure the 40-lap victory and the $25,000 payday that came with it. The win was Axsom’s first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory. It also made him the 160th different winner in World of Outlaws history, the fifth driver to earn a first-time win this season and the 21st different driver to win a World of Outlaws race in 2026. The top five behind him shaped the rest of the finish, with Michael “Buddy” Kofoid second, David Gravel third, Carson Macedo fourth and Spencer Bayston fifth. Axsom kept his line through the late-race restarts and closed out a race that tightened when the laps started to run down.
