Legacy Motor Club adds six investors to ownership group

Legacy Motor Club ownership expands

Legacy Motor Club added six investors to its Strategic Ownership Group, bringing the total to 28 members. The new investors were Danny Sullivan, Ben Lovett, Michael Wystrach, Nat Zilkha, Tim Headington and Johnathan Crocker. Sullivan had a racing connection of his own as the 1985 Indianapolis 500 winner. Lovett came from music, where he was a co-founder of Mumford & Sons. The six additions expanded the group, which Legacy Motor Club said was designed to support competitive goals, commercial growth and expansion beyond racing. The team also made clear it did not want to lean on one celebrity investor or rely on institutional money alone. That approach gave Legacy a wider ownership base as it continued building its program for the future.

Legacy Motor Club future

The ownership move also lined up with Legacy Motor Club’s competitive plans. The team was preparing to field three full-time Cup cars in 2027, and Erik Jones, Josh Berry and Riley Herbst were slated to drive them. That connected the ownership expansion to the next stage of the team’s on-track operation. Jimmie Johnson was set to make his final Cup start in the 2027 Daytona 500. Between the new investors, the planned three-car effort and Johnson’s final start, Legacy Motor Club was mapping out a future with 2027 in view. The team was adding investors while preparing for the next stage of its program.
