Lawson finishes seventh in Singapore Grand Prix

NXTbets Pro | Published On: October 11, 2026

Lawson delivers seventh

Liam Lawson finished seventh in the Singapore Grand Prix and added six points after a strong start on a track where overtaking is difficult. He began eighth after qualifying ninth on track and moving up one place when George Russell received an engine penalty. Lawson passed Pierre Gasly off the line and finished seventh. The result gave him his 13th points finish of the 2026 season and lifted his total to 75 points overall. It also left him 34 points ahead of Gasly in ninth place in the drivers’ standings and 22 points behind eighth-place Isack Hadjar. Lawson said the softer tire compound and his strong start were crucial at a circuit where passing is difficult. The weekend added up to a clear response after he took fifth in Saturday’s sprint, then backed it up with another points finish on Sunday. For Racing Bulls, the performance mattered because Lawson has supplied 61% of the team’s points this season. That kind of production has made him the centerpiece of the team’s push in a tight midfield fight.

Racing Bulls momentum

Racing Bulls left Singapore with more than one useful result, even if the race did not unfold cleanly for both drivers. Arvid Lindblad started ninth on the grid. Team principal Alan Permane had praised Lawson and Lindblad after qualifying and said the car looked strong. Lindblad’s race turned quickly. He dropped from ninth to 15th after a poor start and multiple issues, leaving Lawson to carry the team’s result at the front end of the midfield. Even so, the weekend kept Racing Bulls on course for its best-ever constructors’ finish, a result that would bring increased prize money. The Singapore result also preserved its edge over Alpine, with Racing Bulls leading by 32 points in the constructors’ championship and six rounds left. Lawson’s seventh-place run mattered because it came at a track where overtaking is difficult and because it followed a points finish in the sprint, giving the team another return from one of its cars.

Red Bull outlook

The conversation around Lawson extended beyond the race result. Martin Brundle said Red Bull would have “a major problem” if Racing Bulls tried to replace Lawson, and he called Red Bull’s group of drivers “four great little drivers” in Max Verstappen, Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad. Those comments framed the weekend in which Lawson strengthened his case. Permane also said Nikola Tsolov remained a candidate for a 2027 seat, another sign that Racing Bulls continues to weigh its options as it looks ahead. The broader picture still has moving parts, but Singapore gave Lawson a clear boost.
