Verstappen pole at Marina Bay
Max Verstappen took pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay and claimed his 50th Formula 1 pole. He put together a lap of 1:31.373 and locked it down on his first Q3 run. The result gave Verstappen his first Singapore Grand Prix pole at the 10th attempt. He also arrived at the top of the session after winning the sprint race earlier Saturday, adding another strong result to his weekend in Singapore.
Leclerc and Hamilton chase
Charles Leclerc lined up second, just 0.054 seconds behind Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton followed in third. Hamilton had been quickest in Q1 and Q2 before he failed to improve in Q3. Kimi Antonelli took fourth, with Lando Norris fifth. The front of the grid stayed tight through the final part of qualifying, but Verstappen held the edge when it mattered most and kept the field behind him.
Russell penalty reshapes grid
George Russell qualified sixth, but he will drop to the back of the grid because of an engine penalty. Oscar Piastri qualified seventh. That left Verstappen with pole and Leclerc alongside him on the front row, while the rest of the top seven settled in behind them after a session that shifted again in the final runs.
