Mercedes upgrades
Mercedes brings the biggest package of Formula 1 updates to the Spanish Grand Prix at the new Madring circuit. The Silver Arrows filed three circuit-specific aerodynamic tweaks aimed at cutting drag and improving airflow. The update list includes a revised rear wing, an added winglet behind the exhaust area and a redesigned front drum assembly. That front drum piece is built to improve airflow through steering conditions and send cleaner air toward the back of the car. Mercedes submitted the largest package among the six teams that filed changes. This is a new track for every team, so the German squad is choosing targeted changes over a broad development push. The Madring layout is expected to reward qualifying pace more than passing chances, making one-lap performance especially important.
Rival updates
McLaren and Red Bull also arrived with specific upgrades, while Ferrari, Cadillac and Alpine brought smaller changes of their own. McLaren added rear-wing flow-conditioning elements. Red Bull introduced revised rear wheel bodywork and floor bib parts, with the work aimed at improving reliability and load retention. Ferrari, Cadillac and Alpine each filed smaller updates. Williams, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, Aston Martin, Haas and Audi brought no changes. The field is therefore split between teams bringing track-specific pieces and those keeping their cars unchanged for Madrid.
Madring outlook
The bigger picture at Madring is a cautious one. Formula 1 teams arrived with mostly track-specific changes rather than major development packages. The layout is expected to reward qualifying pace more than overtaking, making qualifying the clearest early test of those choices. On paper, the circuit is also expected to suit Ferrari and McLaren. Bigger upgrade packages may have been saved for Baku, leaving Madrid as a weekend centered on targeted changes rather than major development.
