Kofoid wins opener
Michael “Buddy” Kofoid opened the Buckeye Brawl with a statement win, taking the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series feature at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio. Kofoid started on the pole and led all 30 laps of the race, then kept control through several cautions and lapped traffic. He crossed the line more than a second ahead of the field and collected $18,000 for the victory.
The result gave Kofoid his series-leading 15th win of the season and pushed his career total to 37 World of Outlaws victories. It also moved him into sole possession of 23rd place on the all-time wins list.
Late cautions help Kofoid
The feature never settled into a long green-flag rhythm. The race included multiple cautions for slow cars, a stalled car and a car in smoke late in the run. Those stoppages broke up the action, but they also gave Kofoid the kind of clean air every leader wants when the laps start to count down. Once he got back into the open track, he kept the car under control and stayed clear of the pressure building behind him.
Podium chase
Garet Williamson finished second and David Gravel took third, while Spencer Bayston and Parker Price-Miller completed the top five. That group followed Kofoid across the line in a race that kept moving through caution periods and traffic management.
For Kofoid, the performance was simple and complete.
