Mike Elliott rejoined Alpine as chief technical officer

Alpine added Elliott

Alpine brought Mike Elliott back into Formula 1 and named him chief technical officer, putting him in charge of the team’s technical and engineering functions at its Enstone factory. Alpine said the appointment strengthened its technical capabilities as it looked to build on improved on-track performances and close the gap to the top four teams.

Elliott returned to the championship after leaving Mercedes near the end of the 2023 season.

Elliott’s Formula 1 path

Elliott brought 23 years of Formula 1 experience to Alpine. He started working in Formula 1 with McLaren in 2000, then worked at Renault from 2008 to 2012 before holding senior technical roles at Mercedes from 2012 to 2023.

Alpine’s technical plan

Alpine’s structure put Elliott in charge of the technical and engineering functions at Enstone while executive technical director David Sanchez continued to lead development of the team’s 2026 and 2027 cars.

Alpine linked the appointment to its goals, saying the move strengthened its technical capabilities, built on improved performances and helped close the gap to the top four teams.
