M&M’s returns as the primary sponsor of Ty Gibbs and the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing team for one final run at the Bristol Night Race, and the race appearance is being billed as a tribute to Kyle Busch. The No. 54 car will carry a throwback paint scheme built around the M&M’s designs Busch drove to many of his victories. The car also will feature images from Busch’s career and a photo mosaic of moments from his life and career, along with the colors he drove to many wins and to the 2015 Cup Series title. Samantha Busch said Bristol was one of Kyle Busch’s favorite tracks and described the tribute as heartbreaking and beautiful. She said it was heartbreaking to see the car return without Kyle and meaningful to carry his legacy forward at a track he loved. The plan keeps Busch tied to one of the sport’s most recognizable sponsors and one of his strongest tracks, with the throwback design serving as the centerpiece of the tribute.
Busch Bristol record
Busch’s name still carries major weight at Bristol. He won nine Cup races there, along with nine Xfinity Series races and five Truck Series races. He also remains the only driver in NASCAR history to sweep a triple-header weekend twice, and both of those sweeps came at Bristol. That record gives the tribute a clear connection to the track and to the driver M&M’s and Joe Gibbs Racing are honoring. Busch’s Bristol success helped define part of his career, and the numbers behind it show why the track remains linked to his legacy. Busch won 63 NASCAR Cup Series races in all and finished with a record 234 victories across NASCAR’s national series. He died after a brief battle with sepsis at age 41. Those accomplishments and that loss sit behind the tribute, which leans on one of the tracks where he built some of his strongest results and most durable memories. Bristol was a place where Busch won often and won in different series, and that depth of success helps explain why the tribute lands there.
M&M’s throwback history
The Bristol scheme also continues a partnership that has already produced a memorable Busch tribute. Joe Gibbs Racing previously unveiled a Kyle Busch M&M’s throwback paint scheme for the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway that celebrated M&M’s 80th anniversary. That car used old-school yellow and red colors, included the iconic M&M’s lentils and carried a special 80th anniversary message. The new Bristol design extends that idea with a different look and a different setting, but the same core theme. It ties M&M’s back to Busch’s most familiar paint colors and uses the No. 54 to frame a tribute built around his career and life. The result is a final sponsor return that reaches beyond a single race. It brings together Ty Gibbs, Joe Gibbs Racing, Busch’s history with the brand and the track where he won so often.
