Milhau, Dominguez reach semifinals at Edommo Surf Pro Razo

NXTbets Pro | Published On: October 17, 2026

Women’s semifinals set

Nahia Milhau and Ariane Ochoa moved into the women’s semifinals at the World Surf League’s Edommo Surf Pro Razo QS 2,000, where a marathon day in two- to three-foot surf kept the bracket moving at Playa de Razo, A Coruña, Spain. The women’s field went from the Round of 32 to the Quarterfinals before the last four took shape, and the results kept coming in clean, decisive heat wins. Milhau delivered the standout women’s quarterfinal score of the round with an 8.17, then advanced past Maelys Jouault to secure her place in the semifinals. Ochoa followed with one of the day’s biggest knockout results, eliminating Alys Barton to reach the last four. Barton had already put together one of the strongest runs in the women’s draw, backing up a 15.50 Round of 32 total with another win to reach the quarterfinals before Ochoa stopped her charge. Janire Gonzalez Etxabarri and Jouault also moved through earlier in the women’s draw, and the pace of the event left little room for mistakes once the heats reached the elimination rounds. The women’s side held its shape through a full day of competition, and the semifinal field now reflects that balance of control and big-point surfing.

Men’s quarterfinals deliver

The men’s side produced its own sharp turn as the field narrowed to the Round of 16 and then into the quarterfinals. Kai Odriozola posted the day’s top men’s heat total with a 14.33, a mark that set the standard for the rest of the draw. Yago Dominguez answered with a 14.17 total of his own, enough to beat Spain’s Andy Criere in the quarterfinals and move into the semifinal round. Thomas Debierre also delivered a key upset by knocking out European QS rankings leader Francisco Ordonhas, closing the door on one of the event’s more accomplished surfers. Ordonhas had advanced earlier along with Enzo Cavallini, Lukas Skinner, Conor Donegan Dos Santos and Odriozola as the men’s draw tightened through the Round of 16. Cavallini also made his presence felt with an 8.83, another score that helped shape the day’s order before the quarterfinal heats took over. The men’s bracket had the feel of a long, measured grind at first, then the quarterfinals brought the hard cuts that reshaped the event. By the end of the day, Dominguez, Debierre and Odriozola had all put themselves in strong position as the contest moved into its final stages.

Finals day awaits

Difficult onshore winds and strong rip currents trimmed the schedule as the event moved toward finals day, and the surf program now turns on the next calls in Playa de Razo. The first call was set for 9:30 a.m. CEST, with a possible 10 a.m. start, and another call follows at 10 a.m. CEST with a possible 10:30 a.m. start. That gives the event a clear path into the closing rounds if conditions hold. Both the men’s and women’s semifinals are set, so the remaining surf sessions will decide the next step for each draw once organizers get a clean window. The competition has already asked a lot of the field, from the long day in modest but workable surf to the pressure of back-to-back elimination heats. Milhau and Ochoa have reached the women’s semifinals with different paths but the same result. Dominguez, Debierre and Odriozola have done the same on the men’s side. The event now waits for the next opening in the weather and swell before it can move from semifinals into finals day.
