Nakagami crash
Honda ruled Takaaki Nakagami out of the rest of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend at Mobility Resort Motegi after a heavy crash in first practice ended his return to Honda action on home soil. Nakagami was in the field as a wildcard entry when he lost control and high-sided at Turn 11 after just four minutes of the session. The crash came on his out-lap in damp, early-session conditions and left him unable to continue. He never completed a full lap of the weekend before Honda declared him unfit.
Honda recovery
The impact fractured Nakagami’s left collarbone, and Honda said the injury was diagnosed before first practice ended. The team said he will now focus on recovery. The Motegi appearance was set to be Nakagami’s final MotoGP wildcard before one-off entries are banned from 2027, which gives the crash extra weight for a rider making what looked like a last special appearance. Instead, the weekend ended before it really began, with Honda forced to close the book on Nakagami’s return after the opening session.
