Nelson takes control
Tyler Nelson left Lincoln Park Speedway with the kind of night that changes a points race. He won the 20-lap USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget feature in Putnamville, Indiana, and moved to the top of the standings in the process. The win was his third series victory of the season and the fourth of his career. It also carried extra value because Nelson earned fast-qualifier honors and picked up a bonus for the victory.

Nelson’s pass to the lead

Nelson led Massingill by 46 points heading into the final race at Montpelier Speedway. That was a strong position with only one event left, and it gave Nelson a clear path as the season reached its finish. Nelson forced the issue with a win, and the standings reflected it.
The rest of the feature order rounded out a night that had meaning beyond the top step of the podium. Matt Lux finished second, Stratton Briggs took third, Jalen Cox settled for fourth and Trisdon Brown completed the top five. Those finishes mattered in a race that carried both feature points and championship weight.
