The Street League Skateboarding (SLS) Championship Tour lands in Sydney for the knockout rounds. It’s the first major skateboarding event post-Paris Olympics, and the competition is as fierce as ever. With knockout rounds and finals for both men and women, the world’s best skaters will be battling it out.
For Sydney, the expert pick has to be Nyjah Huston. His ability to consistently deliver under pressure, combined with his strong form in Apex 2 and Paris, makes him the most reliable choice. Huston’s versatility on a wide range of obstacles, and his history of excelling on technical courses like Ken Rosewall Arena, positions him as the frontrunner. With the odds at +177, it’s a smart pick for those looking for a balance of safe betting and solid returns.
BKFC: Spain
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) makes its Spain debut, featuring three world title fights. Tony “Loco” Soto faces Franco Tenaglia for the vacant lightweight title in the main event, while Austin Trout defends his welterweight crown against Rico Franco. The action is expected to be intense as fighters bring their best to the Squared Circle.
Saturday, October 12: Main Card starts at 9:00 p.m.
Expert Pick
For a plus-money play with a great shot at cashing, look no further than Rico Franco at +173 over Austin Trout. Yes, Trout is a magician on the feet with forgotten boxing skills. But the man has fought just twice since 2019 and isn’t getting any younger at age 39. In bare knuckle, where the margins for error are so slim, those intangibles matter. By contrast, Franco is smack in his fighting prime at age 32 and has been honing his BKFC-specific game for years. The Brit’s relentless pressure, granite chin, and fight-changing power give him a real path to victory at a juicy price. In a championship fight where both men should have their moments, take a value stab on the live underdog.
NHRA Texas FallNationals: Ennis, TX
The second half of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship kicks off at the Texas Motorplex for the FallNationals. With only a few rounds left before the season finale in Pomona, Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle are all in tight championship battles. Antron Brown leads Top Fuel, while Austin Prock aims to lock down Funny Car. Expect fierce competition as the playoffs heat up.
In the Top Fuel category, the smart money is on Antron Brown. His combination of recent success, championship experience, and current momentum make him the most likely candidate to hoist the Wally trophy on Sunday. Brown’s team has shown the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions, a crucial skill at the Texas Motorplex. While the odds may not offer the biggest payout, Brown’s consistency and proven playoff performance make him the safest bet for those looking to back a winner.
