Quartararo says he’d react like Bagnaia if teammate kept winning

Fabio Quartararo said he would be furious if he were in Francesco Bagnaia’s place and a teammate kept winning while he was struggling. He drew a clear line between his own problems and Bagnaia’s situation at Ducati, saying he saw no real parallel between the two. Quartararo said Bagnaia would have every right to be furious with Ducati, and he added that he would try to understand why the problems were happening if he were in that position. He also said he did not know the details of Bagnaia’s relationship with Ducati. The comments came during Austrian Grand Prix media duties at the Red Bull Ring. Bagnaia has three straight Sunday DNFs and is dealing with ongoing rear-grip problems. Marc Marquez has won five races this season and leads the championship.
Yamaha and the Test
Quartararo also turned his attention back to Yamaha, the team he usually pushes directly when he sees a problem. He recently said he would stop helping develop the bike because he was not allowed to test Pirelli tires on Monday in Austria. He later said those comments could have been better thought through. Yamaha’s refusal to let Quartararo join next Monday’s Red Bull Ring test added to the recent tension around the team. Quartararo repeated his criticism of Yamaha’s bike and said his complaints went beyond a single missed test session. He said he usually raises problems with Yamaha as soon as he feels them on the bike, rather than letting them build up in silence.
Rain and Yamaha Grip
Quartararo said rain would make things worse because Yamaha already lacked grip, especially in braking and corner entry. He said wet conditions would expose that problem further.
