Reinbold Qualifies, Danner Charges
Hayden Reinbold set the early pace in a different part of the program by earning fast qualifying honors. That gave him the day’s top mark before the feature became the main stage for the field. Once the race started, Briggs Danner put together the strongest climb through the order. He rose from 24th to eighth, a gain of 16 positions and the hard-charger run of the feature. That effort added another notable line to a night that already featured a final-lap battle for the win and a strong push from Moles into second. Kyle Cummins also came out of Bloomington with his points leads intact. He remained the USAC national points leader and also stayed on top of the Indiana Sprint Week standings. Those points notes kept the broader season picture steady even as the feature itself changed at the front on the final lap. Reinbold’s qualifying honor, Danner’s surge and Cummins’ hold on the standings gave the event more than one layer of significance. The feature produced the headline with Ballou’s win, but the rest of the night still mattered. It showed speed in time trials, movement through the field in the race and stability at the top of the points race for Cummins.
