Ty Gibbs Becomes Big Brother Figure for Brexton, Samantha Busch Says

NXTbets Pro | Published On: September 18, 2026

Samantha Busch and support

Samantha Busch said Ty Gibbs has become like a “big brother” to her son, Brexton, in recent months, and the relationship has given her family another source of support. Busch described the Gibbs family as a source of support for her family. She said she asked Heather Gibbs to come over during a panic attack. Heather Gibbs understood what the family was going through after losing her husband, Coy Gibbs, in 2022. Busch’s comments showed how the two families had supported one another through loss.

Ty Gibbs and Brexton

Ty Gibbs has spent time with Brexton Busch away from the spotlight, and Samantha Busch said those outings have made a difference. Gibbs took Brexton to lunch and breakfast, then drove him around the neighborhood in go-karts before taking him to the track to race. Busch said those moments gave her son something to look forward to and helped him feel happier after spending time with Gibbs. The connection also went deeper than the activities themselves. Samantha Busch said Ty Gibbs and Brexton talked about their fathers after both families dealt with loss, which gave their time together another layer of meaning. That kind of conversation can carry weight for children, and Busch said the shared experience helped them relate to each other in a natural way. She framed Gibbs as more than a family friend and more than a fellow racer. In her telling, he became a steady older figure for Brexton, one who showed up, spent time with him and helped him enjoy life a little more through ordinary outings and time at the track.

Kyle Busch tribute

Joe Gibbs Racing planned to put Kyle Busch’s yellow M&M’s livery back on Ty Gibbs’s No. 54 Toyota for the night race at Bristol Motor Speedway, with the tribute honoring Busch. The car design was set to include photos celebrating Kyle Busch’s career with Joe Gibbs Racing, including his first contract with the organization, his first win with the team, his wedding and images of Brexton celebrating his victories. Samantha Busch thanked M&M’s, Mars and Joe Gibbs Racing for the tribute scheme, and she said she, Brexton and Lennix were set to attend the night race.
