Rico Abreu won the $126,000 Angel of the Winds Casino Resort Skagit Nationals finale Saturday night at Skagit Speedway, and the result gave him a third consecutive Skagit Nationals title. The race turned into a back-and-forth fight at the front, but Abreu found the answers when he needed them most. Tanner Thorson led the first 14 laps and set the pace early, then Abreu moved ahead on Lap 15 to take control. Thorson kept pressing, and Abreu had to respond again after losing the lead on Lap 21. He got back past Thorson on Lap 26 and stayed in front the rest of the way. The win added another strong result to Abreu’s record at Skagit Speedway, where he has now posted six High Limit Racing victories in nine series races. Reutzel collision delay
Aaron Reutzel finished second and Thorson took third, giving the front of the field a familiar look by the time the checkered flag fell. The race did pause late after Reutzel and Trey Starks collided on Lap 31, and the crash triggered a 30-minute delay for fence repairs. Starks was unhurt in the collision, and the track crew had to finish the work before the race could continue. The stoppage came after Abreu had already reclaimed the lead, so the interruption changed the pace of the night but not the outcome at the front. Once the fence was repaired, the field returned to action and the top three spots remained settled with Abreu out front, Reutzel in second and Thorson in third. The late delay and repair time added another layer to a race that had already featured multiple lead changes. Abreu’s winning move on Lap 26 proved decisive, and he held on to win.

The result also moved the championship picture for Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing. The team extended its championship lead to 46 points over Reutzel’s team. That margin came on the strength of another victory for Abreu, whose run at Skagit Speedway keeps stacking up wins in High Limit Racing action. His latest triumph was his sixth in nine series races at the track. Saturday night gave the team another title for Abreu and a boost in the standings. The combination keeps Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing in a stronger position in the championship chase while Reutzel’s group tries to close the gap. Abreu did his part by finishing first after the lead changes and late delay, and the team left Skagit Speedway with both the race win and a wider points cushion.
