A narrow margin at Lernerville
Logan Seavey won Friday night’s Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, and he did it by the slimmest of margins, leading all 25 laps before beating series points leader Kyle Cummins by 0.061 seconds. That finish stood as the closest of the 2026 USAC national season and gave the feature a sharp edge from start to finish, even though Seavey never gave up the front spot. He broke through after a 35-race winless streak in the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship, a drought that ended with a win worth more than one line in the results. The victory was Seavey’s third of the 2026 season and his 36th career USAC National Sprint Car win. It also moved him into sole possession of 15th place on the all-time USAC National Sprint Car wins list, a climb that matched the scale of the finish at the line. Seavey arrived at the checkered flag with the race in hand, but Cummins forced him to earn every inch of it.
Cummins’ points chase
Cummins came into the event as the series points leader, and his season form showed why he was the driver Seavey had to beat. He had 10 wins and 37 consecutive top-10 finishes this season, a run that kept him at the front of the championship picture and put him in position to pressure Seavey over the final seconds. The gap at the finish told the story of a race that never drifted far from a head-to-head battle for the win. Seavey controlled the lead, Cummins stayed close enough to make the last part of the race matter, and the final .061 seconds separated first from second. Behind them, Kevin Thomas Jr. finished third, Robert Ballou took fourth and C.J. Leary was fifth. That top five gave the race a familiar look at the sharp end, with three more drivers filling out the front group after the leading pair set the pace. Cummins left with the points lead intact, but Seavey left with the victory and the tighter margin that defined the night.
Lernerville’s return ends early
The Commonwealth Clash also marked the series’ first visit to Lernerville Speedway in 15 years, bringing the USAC national sprint cars back to a four-tenths-mile dirt track with a long gap between events there. The setting fit the kind of race Seavey and Cummins put on. Short track, short feature and almost no separation at the line. Friday’s opener carried extra weight once Saturday night’s finale was canceled because of rain, leaving the first race of the weekend as the only chance to see the series at Lernerville. That put Seavey’s wire-to-wire run at the center of the weekend story. He led every lap, held off the season points leader and turned the return to Sarver into a memorable finish for the series. The rainout closed the weekend before a second feature could run, but the race that did go forward delivered the closest finish of the national season.
