The lights go out on the seventh race weekend of 2025 as teams venture to Imola between May 16th and 18th. Franco Colapinto returns to a single-seater for the first time since Abu Dhabi, debuting for Alpine. Max Verstappen is hunting his fourth consecutive triumph at this track, while Lando Norris looks to go one better than last year and top the podium.

Series leader Oscar Piastri exits the pit at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari off the back of three straight wins. This is only his second start in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix after crossing the line in fourth on his debut.

Kimi Antonelli makes his first appearance as an F1 driver in front of his home crowd, despite driving for a rival team. The wunderkind took pole position in the sprint in Miami and qualified third fastest for the Grand Prix.

PBR UTB: World Finals

PBR UTB World Finals are here, and all systems go at the AT&T Stadium for the two-day showdown. The top fifteen riders on the UTB Standings after the Eliminations automatically stamped their tickets to Arlington, with the final five set to be decided this week, post the Ride for Redemption Round.

The rodeo gets underway on Saturday, May 17th at 7:45 p.m. as 20 riders vie to become $1 million richer. Dalton Kasel leads the charge into the final after a dominant season with five victories, closely followed by Australian Brady Fielder.

Bull riding legend Jose Bitor Leme is finding his groove after winning the Eliminations event, with a 91.25 ride in the Championship round. The Brazilian has three top fives, including two podiums in his last four appearances.

WSL: Western Australia Margaret River Pro

The final WSL Championship Tour event in Australia in 2025 drops in from May 17th until the 27th. Jack Robinson and Gabriela Bryan prevailed on this break in 2024, the second success for Jack in three years at this beach.

World Surf League will broadcast every heat, elimination round, and bracket stage matchup for the duration of the event. Bettylou Sakura Johnson and Filipe Toledo land on the west Aussie coast in fine form after taking top honors at the recent Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro.

World of Outlaws Late Models meet their third date in May when racers descend on Raceway 7 for the Great Lake Showdown. Chris Madden took the checkered flag at this track twelve months ago, with in-form racer Nick Hoffman taking fourth place.

Hoffman lines up off the back of consecutive podiums, including a win in the second feature at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. Series leader Bobby Pierce continues his dominance with six top-three returns in his last eight starts.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series takes on Canada in a three-race weekend that climaxes at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. It’s the first time in 11 years that locals will enjoy the “Greatest Show on Dirt,” with David Gravel looking to put more distance between him and his title challengers.

Hot Laps are scheduled for 6 PM ET with racing set to follow shortly after in Ontario. DIRTVision will keep the coverage rolling on Sunday evening for those of us supporting from stateside. Anthony Macri is one to watch as he lines up after entering Victory Lane for the first time this year, in the last feature.

USAC Midget Cars: Belleville Short Track

Round three of the 2025 USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship drifts into action on Friday, May 16th. Drivers line up at the Belleville Short Track in Kansas for two days of dirt car racing, as Justin Grant looks to extend his early lead in the series.

Grant greeted the stewards in fifth in the season opener, before entering Victory Lane in the second feature. Jacob Denney tasted early success at Kokomo Speedway, but dropped off the pace on the second day to finish outside of the top 10. Cannon McIntos starts in second on the standings after two top fives, including a podium after the opening weekend.

We are into the sixth event of the 2025 NHRA showcase as the dragstarts take on Illinois. The Pro Stock cars enjoy a breather from competition, but it’s full steam ahead for the Funny Car, Top Fuel, and Pro Stock Motorcycle contingents.

Antron Brown blitzed the Top Fuel field on his last visit to Elwood, prevailing in the final. Matt Hagan took top honors in the Funny Car division, while superstar Gaige Herrera dominated the Pro Stock Motorcycle competition. Herrera found himself in unfamiliar territory in the last event, ending the weekend in third. Expect him to ride with a vengeance this weekend.

“May Madness” continues in the High Limit Racing Championship as the seventh race of the month takes off on Friday night. Brad Sweet arrives in Fremont as the habitual series leader, despite finishing 21st at Lakeside Speedway last weekend.

Rico Abreu starts in sensational form, winning three out of four features at Texas Motor Speedway and Kokomo Speedway. The pits open for the rumble at Ransonville from 4:00 p.m., with racing accelerating onto the track at 7:30 p.m.

DGPT: Discraft’s Cascade Challenge

The seventh DGPT tournament takes flight at Shelton Springs on Friday, May 16. MPO and FPO title chasers have their work cut out for them as Gannon Buhr and Holyn Handley have opened up comfortable leads at the top of the World Standings.

Shelton Springs demands creativity and precision from disc golfers with a mix of open shots and wooded fairways coming into play. FPO competitors tee off from 9:30 a.m. PT daily, with the MPO bracket taking over the course in the afternoon.
