World of Outlaws debuts at Belle-Clair, races Lincoln Park Friday

Lincoln Park opener

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series heads into a two-track Midwest weekend that puts Lincoln Park Speedway and Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Park Speedway in the spotlight. The action opens at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana, with the Cushion Capital Clash, and the stop gives the series one last run at the track in 2026. It also sets up the first World of Outlaws race at Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Park Speedway in Belleville, Illinois, later in the weekend, giving the series a debut at one venue and a final visit at the other. Both races land on quarter-mile tracks. That mix of a familiar stop and a first-time appearance gives the weekend a clear shape. Lincoln Park starts the swing, Belle-Clair closes it, and the series gets a compact stretch that brings two different test cases into the same trip. One track has already seen the Outlaws, the other has not. Both now sit in the same late-season window, and both matter as the schedule moves toward its finish.

Belle-Clair debut

The Belle-Clair debut adds another layer to the weekend, but the home-state tie at Lincoln Park carries just as much weight. Emerson Axsom and Spencer Bayston, both Indiana natives, head to Lincoln Park with home turf on their side and just 18 points between them in the standings. That makes the opener more than a routine stop for two drivers. Chris Windom also gives the weekend a local angle when he returns to his home state of Illinois. He already has a Lincoln Park victory from 2017, and he added another win at I-55 earlier this season, so his background at the state level fits cleanly into this trip. The weekend brings together drivers with different kinds of familiarity. Axsom and Bayston know the Indiana side of the map, Windom brings an Illinois connection and Belle-Clair offers a new stage for the series. With one race in each state, the trip keeps the regional flavor strong while still leaving room for a fresh headline at Belle-Clair. The result is a weekend built on local ties, track history and a first look at a new venue.

Late-season chase

The late-season picture stays crowded, and the numbers behind it show how open the series has been. Sheldon Haudenschild arrives after winning the final two Buckeye Brawl races, and his 11 victories in 2026 stand as a career best. He has momentum at the right time, and that form adds another threat to a field that keeps producing winners. Points leader David Gravel and former series champion Donny Schatz have each won the last two Lincoln Park visits, so the track already has recent history tied to two of the sport’s biggest names. The wider season has spread the wins around even more. The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has had 23 different winners this year, and that puts it within reach of the single-season record of 25. That kind of spread keeps the title chase and the weekly battles connected, with no long run of domination from one driver. Bill Balog and Cole Macedo still want late-season victories of their own, which keeps the back half of the roster in the conversation as well. Haudenschild brings the hottest recent form, Gravel and Schatz bring the most recent Lincoln Park success and the season-wide numbers show how little margin there has been from top to bottom.
