World of Outlaws return
World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series is set to race at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, for the 64th J&S Classics National Open, and the event again puts the traveling series and the PA Posse in the same spotlight. More than 50 Sprint Car drivers are expected, and the program features a $75,000-to-win finale that should draw a deep field into every part of the show. The World of Outlaws enter with a 4-2 lead in the season series over the PA Posse, and they are chasing a third consecutive National Open win. Carson Macedo won the race in 2024 and Sheldon Haudenschild followed in 2025, so the series arrives with recent success at Williams Grove and a clear target on its back. That combination gives the road regulars a strong position and the Pennsylvania group a reason to push back. The National Open puts the two sides into direct competition, and this edition carries the same familiar setup with a large field, a major payoff and a rivalry that has been part of the event’s identity.
Donny Schatz chase
Donny Schatz brings one of the strongest resumes in the field. He owns a record six National Open victories and is trying to win a seventh. Schatz also comes in after a recent win in Bakersfield with CJB Motorsports, which adds more weight to his case as one of the drivers who can shape the weekend from the front. Michael “Buddy” Kofoid, Logan Schuchart and Bill Balog are listed among the top contenders as well, giving the event a mix of drivers who can win if the race opens up in their lane. The tentative entry list adds more depth. David Gravel, Logan Schuchart, Lance Dewease, Donny Schatz, Sheldon Haudenschild, Brent Marks, Anthony Macri, Carson Macedo and Danny Dietrich are included, and the list is subject to change. That group shows how stacked the National Open can get when the World of Outlaws and the PA Posse meet on the same card. Gravel and Macedo add to the list, Schuchart and Marks add more depth, and Haudenschild already has a National Open trophy. With that many established names in the mix, the event gives little room for mistakes and even less room for a slow start.
PA Posse challenge
The PA Posse answer starts with Chase Dietz. He leads the local side after a season with a nation-leading 22 wins in 410 Sprint Cars, and that mark puts him at the front of the Pennsylvania challenge. Anthony Macri, Lance Dewease, Danny Dietrich and Daryn Pittman are expected to be threats as well, giving the Posse real depth behind Dietz. Macri adds another strong name to the mix, Dewease adds another challenger, Dietrich gives the group another challenger and Pittman rounds out a list of drivers who can factor if the race breaks wide open late. That depth matters because the National Open does more than crown a winner. It measures the strength of the touring series against the home track group in the same race. The World of Outlaws can point to the 4-2 season-series lead and the back-to-back National Open wins by Macedo and Haudenschild. The PA Posse can point to Dietz’s season and the number of challengers around him. The result is a field built around a clear rivalry, strong individual resumes and a final night that should bring both sides into the same fight for the checkered flag.
