What a way to celebrate Bastille Day. The host nation bagged the polka dot jersey, and there’s another yellow jersey holder in the tour. Ireland leads the general classification for the first time since 1987, courtesy of Ben Healy. There is this and more to break down in our 2025 Tour de France Stage 10 report below.
Simon Yates powered home to the top of Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy like a Trojan horse, crossing the line 9 seconds ahead of Thymen Arensman. The Brit sealed the third Tour victory of his career, six years after his previous triumph. His work helped to keep his teammate Jonas Vingegaard in contention in the GC, despite the field being blown open by the breakaway.
General Classification
Ben Healy entered the record books at the end of stage 10, becoming only the fourth Irishman to wear the leader’s jersey. He sits at the top of the GC, only four days after winning his first Tour de France stage. Healy heads into Tuesday’s rest day with a 29-second cushion over pre-race favorite Tadej Pogačar.
King of the Mountains
Monday gave us our first taste of serious points in the race for the King of the Mountains title. Frenchman Lenny Martinez gave his nation something to celebrate exactly 45 years to the day when his grandfather Mariano Martinez prevailed on the Bastille Day stage. He will start on Wednesday in the polka jersey, holding a nine-point advantage over Healy.
Youth Classification
The GC leader also owns the white jersey now, 01′ 29” ahead of Remco Evenepoel in the Youth Classification. However, Evenepoel will wear the white jersey, as Healy dons the most important shirt of them all.
Team Classification
Team Visma-Lease A Bike continues to own the team classification, extending their lead over UAE Team Emirates XRG by 16′ 45″, thanks to the stage victory by Simon Yates.
