Another mountain stage has passed, and it was another victory for the “Low Country” and Thymen Arensman. The Dutchman secured his second victory of the race, reaching the summit of the La Plagne climb, just ahead of Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, and Florian Lipowitz. The young German rider extended his lead over Oscar Onley in the youth classification after losing time to the Brit yesterday. We have all this and more for you in our 2025 Tour de France stage 19 report below.
Pogačar reached La Plagne third behind Arensman and Vingegaard, shedding two seconds over the Dane in the GC. However, the Slovenian is still firmly in control of the yellow jersey, carrying a 4:24 lead, lining up in Nantua tomorrow morning.
King of the Mountains
Lenny Martinez pushed hard on today’s stage, racking up 25 points on the first two climbs of the day. However, his efforts were in vain as Jonas and Pogi added 15 and 12 points to their tally, respectively. Pogačar holds a 13-point lead in the polka dot jersey classification with a hilly and a flat stage to come.
Points Classification
Green jersey leader Jonathan Milan showed the sprinters who is boss, bagging 20 points today in the intermediate sprint. The Italian now holds an 80 point cushion over Pogi in the points classification and is well on his way to securing the coveted jersey when the caravan reaches Paris on Sunday.
Youth Classification
Florian Lipowitz needed a big day to put the white jersey out of the reach of Oscar Onley, and the German delivered. He fought hard up La Plagne, even attacking and testing Vingegaard and Pogačar. In the end, he crossed the line in fourth today, 41 seconds ahead of Onley. He starts stage 20 with a 1:03 lead over the Team Picnic–PostNL youngster.
