Women’s draw
Adriana Fernandez Hidalgo led the women’s opening round with a 14.17 total, including an 8.67 wave score, and advanced to the quarterfinals. Tiara Van Der Huls also advanced, along with Vida Mendonça and Lua Escudeiro. Top seeds Ibone Gomez and Sol Borelli were eliminated. The World Surf League Junior Qualifying Series EDP Junior Pro Gijón opened at Playa de San Lorenzo with small but contestable waves, and organizers ran heats on two separate banks. Multiple rounds were completed on the first day, moving both the men’s and women’s fields deeper into the competition. Fernandez Hidalgo led the women’s opening round, while Sancho, Ibarra, Román and Suarez advanced in the men’s draw.
