The Miami International Autodrome revs to life between Friday, May 2nd, and Sunday, 4th as the Formula 1 roadshow drives into town for its fourth showcase in Southern Florida. The single-seaters take to the track for the first time on Friday at 12:30 PM ET for the only practice session of the weekend. After familiarizing themselves with the layout, the F1 contingent departs the pits for Sprint Qualifying at 4:30 PM, returning to the track at lunchtime on Saturday for the second sprint race on the calendar.
Teams have no time to rest as the Grand Prix qualifying sets off just over three hours after the sprint concludes. The main event takes center stage on Sunday at 4 PM local time, as Max Verstappen searches for his third scalp in Florida. For those enjoying the festivities from home, ESPN 2 is your go-to broadcaster.
Weather Forecast for the Miami Grand Prix
Racers are bracing themselves for a weekend of spicy weather that is forecast to reach into the mid-80s during qualifying and the Grand Prix. Humidity is set to exceed 50% in the late afternoon on all three days, and light rain is only forecast for the early hours of Saturday morning, and shouldn’t hamper proceedings. One element to consider is wind, which may gust at 25 mph during the race on Sunday. This could impact lap times, fuel consumption, and the teams’ pit stop strategy.
What is F1 DFS Betting
Formula 1 Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) gives you a chance to win if your drivers and constructor return more points than other players’ picks. You pick five drivers (one is designated as your captain), and a constructor’s team. Points are assigned to each driver based on how they finish, fastest laps, laps led, and starting grid position. The captain receives double the amount of points.
All points count towards your total, and the player with the highest points tally at the checkered flag wins the pot.

Oscar Piastri (+136) The humble Australian Oscar Piastri finds himself at the head of the Driver Championship, taking top honors in three of the five races this season. Piastri only finished off the podium in Melbourne, but he was in second place with 13 laps remaining, before spinning off the track. Piastri has never finished inside the top 10 in Miami, securing a best return of 13th on his last visit. He had never podiumed in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, or China before this year; now he’s driven down Victory Lane at all three tracks.
Lando Norris (+150) After living up to expectations and succeeding at the Australian Grand Prix, Lando Norris has largely played a supporting role to his teammate. “Last Lap Lando” lines up for his title defense in Miami, sitting second in the Drivers standings. The McLaren driver has been consistent in the first five races, finishing on the podium four times and finishing fourth in Jeddah. His consistency gives him the best finishing average in the field this season at 2.4.
Max Verstappen (+615) Two-time victor at the Miami International Autodrome, Max Verstappen is one to keep an eye on. The Dutchman has endured his fair share of car and pit stop troubles, but still showed the speed potential of this car in Japan and Saudi Arabia two weeks ago. Verstappen has the best average finish in the field at this venue with 1.33 after winning twice and finishing second, last time out. Despite his challenges, Max has greeted the stewards in an average position of 3.25 in the first five Grands Prix, standing on the podium three times, including once as a winner.

George Russell (+1499) Mercedes driver George Russell is leading by example with five consecutive top fives this year. Including three podiums, with a best return of second in Bahrain. The Briton lines up in Miami in fourth on the driver’s standings, the same position he finished at this venue in 2023, his best performance here in three appearances.
Charles Leclerc (+1544) Charles Leclerc drove his race of the year in Saudi Arabia, crossing the line in third for his maiden podium of the campaign. The result came off the back of consecutive fourth places at Suzuka and Bahrain, but he pushed hard to give Ferrari their first Sunday podium in 2025. The Monagasque lines up in Southern Florida with three straight top 10 returns at this venue, including two podiums (2022, 2024).
Lewis Hamilton (+2798) The first sprint weekend of 2025 delivered the highest and lowest moments of the season to Lewis Hamilton. He took the checkered flag in the first sprint in Shanghai, but was disqualified after the Chinese Grand Prix. Hamilton is desperate to break his trend at this track, where he has finished sixth every time he has visited Southern Florida. The latest Ferrari recruit has finished inside the top 10 on four occasions this season, including a top-five return in Bahrain.
Expert Pick for the 2025 Miami Grand Prix
The current form of Oscar Piastri makes him the one to beat heading into Miami. Of course, his past form at this track may count against him, but he’s already proven in Jeddah, Bahrain, and Shanghai that historical results don’t define his current performance. Sportsbooks have the Australian at +184 heading into this weekend, offering a prospective payout of $56.80 on a $20 wager.

The top three drivers in the standings dominant the podium odds leading into the Miami Grand Prix. Piastri and Norris boast the most podium finishes this season with four apiece, followed by Max Verstappen and George Russell on three.
Piastri has never finished better than 13th at this track, but his current form suggests he will break the status quo on Sunday afternoon. The Aussie’s companion Norris also hadn’t finished inside the top 10 in Miami until last year, when he soldiered on to take the checkered flag.
George Russell has offered excellent value for money on podium finishes throughout the season. A surprising fact, considering he has three to his name and is yet to finish outside the top five. “Mr. Saturday” has navigated his way to two top-five performances at this circuit, never ending outside the top 10.

Piastri is the only driver in the top four on the standings to have finished outside the top six this year, which came at Albert Park, after spinning off the track. He still recovered to cross the line in ninth.
Lando Norris, George Russell, and Max Verstappen are regular top-six finishers, crossing the line inside the threshold in every race so far. The 2024 Miami GP Champion boasts the best record among these three, never finishing worse than fourth, the position he ended in Saudi Arabia.
Charles Leclerc earned his third consecutive top-six return last time out, giving him an average finishing position of 3.67 in his last three races. Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli greeted the checkered flag in sixth in Jeddah, giving home four top-six returns in five races.

Only four drivers line up in Miami after finishing inside the top 10 in every start this year. Both McLaren drivers find themselves on the list alongside Verstappen and Russell. The Ferrari duo would’ve been on that list had it not been for post-race disqualifications in China. Kimi Antonelli misses the list by one spot, after crossing the line in 11th place in Bahrain.
Alexander Albon and Oliver Bearman provide superb value for money, with positive odds, and a 60% top 10 success rate this season. Albon starts with an average finish of 8.4, while the other half of “Carbono,” Carlos Sainz, averages 10.66 and carries two top 10s to his name. Isack Hadjar drove home for his second top 10 of the season in the last round, pushing Alex Albon all the way, and making the Williams team work for their points.
The two drivers who collided on the first lap in Jeddah are a threat to the top 10 results. Yuki Tsunoda earned his highest place on the starting grid this season, lining up in eight, and Gasly one place behind him, it was a race to forget for both of them, but both drivers secured their first top 10 of 2025 in Bahrain, and are looking the best they have in this campaign.

Red Bull drivers have qualified fastest at this track twice in the three editions of this race. Max Verstappen took pole last year, while Sergio Perez held the honor in 2023. Charles Leclerc claimed the inaugural fastest qualifying honor in Miami in 2022. It is interesting to note that the fastest qualifier has never won the Miami Grand Prix. In all three events, the fastest qualifier ended Sunday in second place.
Oscar Piastri leads the 2025 Championship for most individual pole positions, contributing two to McLaren’s total of three fastest qualifiers. Red Bull is second, taking the first bay on the grid twice in five races, courtesy of Verstappen. Russell has consistently challenged for pole position, starting in the first three places on the grid in three races.
Charles Leclerc gave Ferrari their closest shot at a fastest qualifier, when he clocked the second quickest lap time in Bahrain. Besides that, the Italian team have found themselves outside of the top three fast qualifiers this year, raising the difficulty of challenging McLaren for top points.

McLaren starts the 2025 Miami Grand Prix as the defending Constructor Champions at this circuit. The British outfit also leads this season’s Constructors’ by 77 points from Mercedes, after winning four out of the five Grands Prix races so far. Red Bull took the checkered flag at Suzuka, but that is as good as it’s gotten for McLaren’s rivals.
Mercedes is the closest challenger in the Constructor Championship standings, but their top driver, George Russell, has had to settle for two thirds and a runner-up. Russell and his protege Kimi Antonelli are consistent operators, but they haven’t displayed Mercedes ability to challenge to for the top spot on the podium.
