Texas Rattlers (-105) vs. Florida Freedom (-125)

The Texas Rattlers entered the season as the defending champs, but they looked far from invincible in OKC. A shutout loss to the upstart Wildcatters exposed some rust, particularly in the middle of their lineup. Reliable stars Brady Fielder and Joao Ricardo Vieira will need more help from the likes of Brady Oleson and Jesse Petri if the Rattlers are to fend off a hungry Florida Freedom squad that exceeded expectations in week one.

The Freedom’s success starts with Elizmar Jeremias, who wasted no time asserting himself as an early MVP frontrunner by going a perfect 3-for-3. But the story of their opener was the debut of No. 1 draft pick John Crimber. The teenage phenom went 2-for-2, including a clutch 88-point ride to clinch the Freedom’s first win. If Crimber continues to live up to the hype and veterans like Thiago Salgado and Caden Bunch deliver, the Freedom could be primed for an upset at an enticing -125 moneyline.

Austin Gamblers (-225) vs. New York Mavericks (+170)

On paper, the Austin Gamblers entered the season as the team to beat. Fresh off back-to-back regular season titles and boasting a roster featuring two-time MVP Jose Vitor Leme and 2018 World Champion Kaique Pacheco, the Gamblers were expected to dominate out of the gate. Instead, they stumbled to a shocking 0-2 start, managing a meager 174 points. Leme did secure one qualified ride, but Pacheco was blanked, perhaps still hampered by an injury suffered in their opener. If the Gamblers are to live up to their lofty expectations, their stars must get healthy and back to their winning ways quickly.

Enter the New York Mavericks, the other expansion team making their PBR Teams debut. As expected, the Mavericks experienced some growing pains, going 0-3. However, there were glimmers of hope, notably from Davi Henrique de Lima. The recent free agent signee made history by securing the franchise’s first-ever qualified ride. The Mavericks will need more than just one ride to compete, though, and are hoping that Marco Rizzo can join the roster soon to provide a much-needed boost.

The Gamblers may have stubbed their toe coming out of the gates, but the talent disparity in this matchup is jarring. Even with a steep moneyline, Leme & Co. are likely to get back on track in a major way against a Mavericks squad still finding its footing.

Kansas City Outlaws (-130) vs. Nashville Stampede (+100)

While the Carolina Cowboys stole the headlines, the Kansas City Outlaws quietly emerged as a force to be reckoned with in OKC. Anchored by reigning World Champion Cassio Dias, who went 2-for-3 with an 89.75-point ride, the Outlaws showcased their impressive depth en route to a 2-0 start. Koltin Hevalow provided crucial support, going 2-for-2, while the return of a healthy Brennon Eldred added even more firepower to an already stacked roster. The Outlaws look every bit the part of a title contender.

The Nashville Stampede, last year’s surprise champions, will look to slow down the Outlaws’ momentum. The Stampede started slower at 1-2, but there were encouraging signs, particularly from veteran Mason Taylor. After a couple of down years, Taylor went 2-for-3 and single-handedly delivered the Stampede’s lone win. The question is whether Taylor can get more support, especially from grizzled veterans like Silvano Alves. The Stampede have a knack for getting hot at the right time, but consistency will be key.

The Stampede’s even moneyline is certainly tempting, but the Outlaws simply look too formidable to bet against right now. With Dias leading the charge and depth to spare, Kansas City is poised to stay unbeaten.

Arizona Ridge Riders (-120) vs. Carolina Cowboys (-110)

In the marquee matchup of the weekend, two undefeated juggernauts collide as the Arizona Ridge Riders take on the Carolina Cowboys. Arizona quietly took care of business in OKC, going 2-0 behind the breakout performance of Nick Tetz. The Canadian rookie went a perfect 2-for-2, forming a potent 1-2 punch with the always reliable Keyshawn Whitehorse. If veterans Luciano De Castro and Eduardo Aparecido can provide some stability, the Ridge Riders have all the ingredients for a deep playoff run.

However, no team turned more heads in week one than the Carolina Cowboys. Jerome Davis’ squad didn’t just go 2-0; they made PBR Teams history by authoring just the third-ever 5-for-5 perfect game. The highlight was Adriano Salgado’s jaw-dropping 93-point ride, but this was a complete team effort. A well-rested Cooper Davis went 2-for-2, Daylon Swearingen delivered in his first game back, Derek Kolbaba shook off any rust from his major injury, and Sage Steele Kimzey casually dropped a 91-point ride. On paper, the Cowboys’ talent is unrivaled.

Expect a heavyweight bout for the ages, but with the Cowboys firing on all cylinders and boasting a slightly more favorable moneyline at -110, they are the pick to make another statement in Duluth. The trio of Davis, Swearingen, and Kimzey is unmatched right now, and they should power the Cowboys to another marquee win.

Expert Pick

For our Expert Pick, we’re taking the Carolina Cowboys to emerge victorious in Duluth. Jerome Davis’ squad looked unstoppable in OKC, and with a well-rested Cooper Davis back in peak form alongside young stars like Daylon Swearingen and Derek Kolbaba, they have the talent to beat anyone on any given day. A favorable schedule pits them against an inconsistent Rattlers squad as well, further boosting their chances. Bet on the Cowboys to cement their status as the early-season title favorite.
